According to NBC News, the 14-page indictment against Diddy includes accusations of establishing a “criminal enterprise” involved in “s*x trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.”
The allegations date back to 2008, when he was accused of drugging women to keep them “compliant,”coercing them into performing s*xual acts, and forcing them to participate in prolonged s*xual performances labeled as “Freak Offs.” Additionally, the indictment references a harrowing incident involving his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, which was captured on video and made public.
Paul Callan, a former New York prosecutor and criminal defense attorney, provided insight to US magazine, indicating that a conviction could result in a sentence ranging from 10 to 20 years.
Insights on Diddy’s Potential Prison Sentence Following Bail Denial Amid Various Charges
The U.S. Department of Justice released a statement detailing each charge against Diddy, including the potential prison time associated with each conviction. According to the statement, Combs is:
“charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison; one count of s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, which has a maximum sentence of life in prison along with a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years; and transportation for purposes of prostitution, carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years.”
If Combs is convicted of all charges, he faces a minimum of 15 years in prison, potentially extending to a life sentence.
Former prosecutor Robert Sparks shared his thoughts with Your Tango, expressing that the meticulous way in which the U.S. District Attorney’s office has built their case against Combs makes a prison sentence almost inevitable. With numerous witnesses encompassing multiple crimes, Diddy’s situation appears dire. Sparks stated:
“Don’t be mistaken: Even Puff Daddy doesn’t possess enough wealth to make this case disappear… Ultimately, I believe this indictment is highly detailed; it spans over a long period, and crucially, they have an abundance of evidence and numerous witnesses, making it extremely difficult for him to evade consequences. One of the biggest icons in the world is going to face prison time.”
While Diddy grapples with several criminal charges, he is also confronting multiple civil lawsuits from women who have accused him of s*xual assault. He remains detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center as he awaits trial. At the time of this article’s publication, a trial date has not yet been scheduled, according to Deadline.
