Discover Fulgrim: The Latest Miniature in Warhammer 40K

Warhammer 40,000 is set to rejuvenate its lore with the return of one of its most notorious figures, Fulgrim, in a new miniature expected in 2025. Next year will see the launch of an exciting collection of miniatures dedicated to the Emperor’s Children, introducing a fresh line of Chaos Space Marines. Among their ranks are the infamous Noise Marines, celebrated for their use of devastating sonic weaponry that incapacitates and destroys opponents. Like many of their counterparts, the Emperor’s Children are led by a fallen Primarch, a being of immense power who fell under the influence of dark forces. This upcoming release will mark the first appearance of their Primarch in many years.

On Christmas Day, Games Workshop unveiled a stunning miniature of Fulgrim, the daemon prince who commands the Emperor’s Children. This new figure showcases Fulgrim as a terrifying four-armed creature complete with wings and a serpentine lower body. Once a loyal servant of the Emperor, Fulgrim succumbed to the temptations of Chaos during the Horus Heresy, betraying his creator. Surviving that pivotal encounter, he ascended to the rank of daemon prince and has remained largely hidden until now.

Who Is Warhammer 40K’s Primarch Fulgrim?

Fulgrim, as portrayed in the newly revealed miniature showcased on the official Warhammer YouTube channel, is one of the 20 Primarchs, superhuman beings created by the Emperor of Mankind. When they were infants, the Chaos forces abducted all Primarchs from the Emperor’s lab, scattering them across the galaxy. Fulgrim was left on a distant planet, where he ultimately rose to leadership before being reunited with the Emperor. Upon their first meeting, Fulgrim vowed to achieve the Emperor’s ideal of perfection and formed a close bond with the Primarch Ferrus Manus, who crafted the legendary Fireblade for him.

During a campaign on an alien world, Fulgrim discovered a mysterious sword within an ancient temple. This blade, unbeknownst to him, housed a Slaaneshi demon that corrupted his thoughts, shifting his ambition from the pursuit of perfection to one of hedonism and decadence. As a result, Fulgrim allied himself with Horus and other traitorous figures during the infamous Drop Site Massacre at Istvaan V. In that harrowing battle, he killed his brother Ferrus Manus—a horrific act that filled him with dread yet, compelled by the demon’s influence, he kept the Emperor’s Children dedicated to Chaos. Although Fulgrim eventually regained control over his body, he remained under the sway of dark powers for the duration of the Horus Heresy.

Why Is Fulgrim Returning to Warhammer Now?

Fulgrim Completes a Cycle of Classic Primarch Returns

Fulgrim was part of the original lineup of daemon Primarchs created as miniatures for the Epic Space Marine game, which facilitated larger-scale battles compared to traditional Warhammer 40K gameplay. In recent years, Games Workshop has renewed its focus on these classic miniatures, with Fulgrim joining the ranks of Mortarion, Magnus, and Angron in the modern Warhammer 40K universe. This revival ensures that each of the Chaos gods is now represented by a unique Chaos Space Marine chapter within the game.

However, the motivations behind Fulgrim’s return to the Warhammer 40K narrative remain somewhat ambiguous. While he was more active than some of his fallen brethren after the Horus Heresy, Fulgrim has largely remained in seclusion for the past ten millennia. His re-emergence, alongside various other Primarchs—both loyalist and traitor—suggests that a new conflict may be on the horizon. Fans can anticipate more information regarding why Fulgrim and the Emperor’s Children are resurfacing, even if the resolution of Warhammer 40K’s notoriously slow-paced story may take some time.
