On September 19, 2024, BLACKPINK’s Jennie shared a voice message for her fans through her company, ODDATELIER, where she discussed her forthcoming solo album and referred to her fans as “RUBI.”

While BLACKPINK’s official fandom is called “BLINK”or “BLINKs,”the members have started using personalized names for their supporters as they embark on their solo careers. For example, BLACKPINK’s Lisa affectionately calls her fans “LILLIES.”Interestingly, some fans pointed out that “RUBI”or “Rubies”is also the name of Kwon Eun-bi’s fandom.

To provide some context, South Korean singer and actress Kwon Eun-bi debuted as part of the K-pop idol group Ye-A in 2014. Known by her stage name Kazoo, she transitioned to acting soon after the group’s disbandment. Her fanbase is known as “RUBIES”or “RUBI.”

Jennie released an official statement via ODDATELIER, stating:

“We randomly referred to fans by that name on the news page, where we deliver news to fans. We did not officially announce the fandom’s name.”

On September 8, 2024, the talented rapper announced her collaboration with Columbia Records, sharing the message “We’re a family,”on ODDATELIER’s social media platforms, thereby confirming that her debut solo album is set to be released in October 2024.

In addition, on September 19, Harper’s BAZAAR released an exclusive interview with Jennie, in which she elaborated on managing her own company. The 28-year-old reflected on her journey with BLACKPINK since their debut in 2016 and noted her dedication to the group’s international triumphs.

Jennie acknowledged that she is balancing her solo album project with maintaining connections to her fans after spending extended periods in the recording studio. She described BLACKPINK’s historic headline performance at Coachella in 2023 as a significant milestone and expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support the group has received, despite facing various challenges.

“Blackpink Jennie will always be a part of me, but you will also get to experience this new side. I spent six years as a trainee. I was so focused on becoming a performer, I didn’t really understand the meaning of becoming an artist,” she commented.

The talented rapper concluded her contract with YG Entertainment in December 2023 and officially launched her entertainment label, ODDATELIER, on December 24, 2023. However, she and her fellow BLACKPINK members—Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé—subsequently renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment.

Similarly, her bandmates Lisa and Jisoo established their own companies in February 2024, continuing to pursue their individual projects. Meanwhile, Rosé signed with YG Entertainment’s affiliate, THE BLACK LABEL, which is owned by Teddy Park.
