Despite former President Donald Trump’s initial backing for a TikTok ban in 2020, he has shifted his stance during the 2024 presidential campaign, now endorsing the popular social media platform. In June 2023, Trump made his debut on TikTok and has been actively sharing content ever since.
On September 4, 2024, Trump shared a video on Truth Social, once more expressing his support for TikTok.
“For all of those who want to save TikTok in America, vote for Trump. The other side’s closing it up. But I’m now a big star on TikTok. We’re setting records. If you like TikTok, go out and vote for Trump.”- Donald Trump stated.
Trump’s engagement with TikTok as part of his campaign has attracted over 11 million followers. His recent posts have gone viral, particularly due to the soundtrack, featuring well-known influencers and celebrities supporting his presidential bid.
The song featured in Trump’s TikTok is “Nothing Like Uuu,”a newly released track by underground artist Nettspend. This electro-funk hip-hop song was made available on streaming platforms like SoundCloud and Spotify in April and has since amassed millions of streams across various digital streaming platforms (DSPs).
Online reactions have poured in on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), regarding Trump’s use of Nettspend’s track in his TikTok campaign video.
Many users expressed their astonishment at Trump using Nettspend’s viral song in his TikTok campaign, humorously declaring that this might be enough to sway their votes towards the Republican candidate.
“The fact that it’s real…”- A surprised netizen stated.
“Yeah my vote is in”- A fan stated.
“my president”- Said another.
“Donald Trump GOT MY VOTE”- Claimed a Republican supporter.
One user even suggested that the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris should incorporate some of Nettspend’s popular tracks, like “shine n peace,”into their campaign efforts to attract more voters.
“Give kamalahq rights to use shine n peace immediately”- A user stated.
“How’s kamala gonna compete now….. Gotta start using Osamason sounds”- Another chimed in.
