Elon Musk Humiliated for Mispronouncing Famous USA Chant at Donald Trump Rally

On October 28, 2024, Donald Trump hosted an enormous rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City. To say the event was troubling would be an understatement. You might have come across headlines regarding the cringe-worthy racist jokes made during the rally, or the equally disturbing anti-immigrant sentiments expressed by several speakers.

For those of us outside the MAGA sphere, the atmosphere was grim. However, even amidst the most troubling and xenophobic periods in the history of the United States, the internet manages to uncover moments of absurdity that lighten the mood. This is especially true when it involves Elon Musk, the controversial billionaire responsible for Twitter’s downfall, who has now openly aligned himself with Trump, describing his stance as “Dark MAGA” —as if MAGA wasn’t dark enough already, as we’ve previously noted.

During Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden, the internet managed to find a brief distraction in Musk’s inability to execute the most fundamental act of American nationalism: he seemingly fails to perform the “USA!” chant correctly.

Musk fumbles chant, becomes the butt of jokes on his own platform

A clip featuring Elon Musk at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally gained traction on Twitter (or X, to be technical), Musk’s own platform. In this clip, Musk attempts to rally the audience for a “USA! USA!” chant—an iconic phrase often heard during Olympic events or from sarcastic friends who humorously discuss America’s notorious statistics on mass shootings.

Prior to viewing this clip, I never realized there was a “correct” way to perform the chant. It’s an elementary slogan—just shout out the letters with equal intensity. However, watching Musk bungling it brings to mind those infamous outtakes of basketball legend Michael Jordan struggling to say, “Gatorade: is it in you?” in a typical manner. (Though bringing this up may be unfair to Jordan; he shouldn’t be compared to Musk in any other aspect.)

Musk’s rendition of the chant elongates the “A” into an absurd “eyyy” in a peculiar fashion. Instead of a powerful shout, he sounds more like a slightly inebriated college student at a house party. His enthusiastic attempt wraps up with a drawn-out “whuaaaaghhhhh!” —a tone that could be charming if it were coming from someone not notorious for his unorthodox personal life.

As for the rest of the rally? Yikes. Please remember to vote.
