What is Atlus Working On?
While the team at Atlus is set to deliver Persona 5: The Phantom X to Japanese audiences, there are hints that an unannounced title, along with other concurrent projects, is in the works. Although the possibility of downloadable content (DLC) for Metaphor: ReFantazio exists, it is unlikely that such content would qualify as a new title. Atlus has expressed intentions for Metaphor to evolve into a series, although concrete plans have yet to be confirmed.
With comments from the creative producer and chief director of the Persona series, there is a palpable sense of excitement surrounding potential new game announcements—including the highly anticipated Persona 6. Atlus is taking an intentional approach, as they want to avoid repeated delays like those experienced with Persona 5, which was revealed in 2013 and ultimately released in 2016.
With an emphasis on preventing “missteps”and achieving clarity in their announcements, Atlus seems poised to learn from the past. Their strategy of waiting for a more stable release window before making public announcements appears sound—not only for the developers but also for the fans who eagerly await news. Whether it’s Persona 6, DLC, or something innovative, gamers remain hopeful for good news from Atlus in the near future.
