Exciting Updates on the Returning Pokémon TCG Feature: New Cards and Pack Cover Art Unveiled

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is set to reintroduce the popular Owner’s Pokémon feature, with exciting details emerging from the recent Champion’s League event held in Osaka, Japan. During the streamed festivities, fans were treated to exhilarating battles alongside sneak previews of upcoming content for the TCG. Notably, the spotlight was on a brand new set, which revamps a classic feature beloved by players.

Battle Partners Set Unveiled

The latest installment, titled Battle Partners, showcases its cover art and introduces a fresh wave of Owner’s Pokémon cards, according to an announcement from PokéBeach. This Booster Pack will include unique Trainer versions of Pokémon, signaling the comeback of the Owner’s Pokémon card type. Planned for release in Japan on January 24, the set is expected to make its way to Western audiences on March 28, as part of the Journey Together expansion.

The return of the Owner’s Pokémon cards follows their initial introduction in the 2000 set, Gym Heroes. This new wave introduces cards that can evolve solely among Owner’s Pokémon. Key cards already confirmed for the set include Lillie’s Clefairy ex, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex, and N’s Reshiram (both full art and regular version) along with Zoroark. The Battle Partners set will boast a total of 100 cards, excluding secret rares.

What’s more, the trainers featured so far for the Owner’s Pokémon include esteemed names like N, Lillie, Iono, and Hop. Below is the list of newly revealed cards:

However, as more cards are unveiled ahead of Japan’s January launch, it’s likely that even more trainers will be announced. As per PokéBeach, there have been suggestions about the inclusion of Arven’s Mabosstiff, Misty’s Psyduck, and Ethan’s Pichu in future releases.

In addition to the Battle Partners set, another exciting expansion, titled The Glory of Team Rocket, is scheduled for a Spring release in Japan and will eventually make its way to Western audiences under a different name. Although it remains unclear if Owner’s Pokémon will be featured in this upcoming set, Pokémon TCG enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of trainer-specific cards from their cherished characters.
