As the first season concludes, Gi-hun is consumed by his determination to eradicate the Squid Game once and for all. Instead of boarding the plane that would allow him to start a new life, he receives a troubling call from In-ho, who tries to convince him to enjoy the considerable wealth he amassed—45.6 billion won. Yet, Gi-hun, fueled by a deep yearning for justice, defiantly declares his intention to confront the Squid Game, signaling a relentless pursuit that kicks off season 2.

The new season begins with Gi-hun receiving another call from In-ho, prompting him to boldly assert that he is ready to face off against his adversaries. He boards a taxi to Seoul, symbolically removing the trackers implanted behind his ear as he gears up for a confrontation.

Jumping ahead two years in the storyline, Gi-hun remains haunted by memories of his fallen friends from the Squid Game. He hires Mr. Kim, a loan shark, and his crew to aid in locating the elusive recruiter known only as the Salesman. After his harrowing experiences, Jun-ho returns to his post as a police officer but ends up as a traffic patrolman. His investigation into Gi-hun spurs him to track down the survivor and ultimately uncovers Gi-hun’s secret hideout. Timing is key as Jun-ho arrives at the motel just after Gi-hun has outsmarted the Salesman in a tense game of Russian Roulette.

Once the three men align their objectives, Gi-hun unveils his arsenal of weapons, ready to storm the Squid Game location. A pivotal discovery happens when Gi-hun finds a business card bearing an invitation to converse with the Front Man tucked inside the Salesman’s suit. Although he offers his wealth to motivate Jun-ho and Woo-seok, their true motivation stems from avenging the fallen rather than monetary gain.

Gi-hun makes a bold move, risking his life to get back in the Squid Game with a tracker hidden in a fake tooth. As part of his elaborate plan, he has a dentist remove a back molar to position this tracker without detection. His aim is clear: to gather Jun-ho, Woo-seok, and other armed Allies to mount an assault on the island housing the deadly games.

In episode 2, the Front Man surprisingly accepts Gi-hun’s request, reinserting him into the brutal competition as Player 456. Gi-hun cleverly uses the Salesman’s business card to gain access to a nightclub for a clandestine meeting with the Front Man, although it takes place through an intercom in a limousine rather than face-to-face. As Gi-hun restates his vow to eliminate the Squid Game, the scene abruptly shifts, and an unknown gas fills the limousine, causing Gi-hun to lose consciousness. The Front Man, sitting up front, is preparing to revisit the dark world of the Squid Game.
