As episode 3 concludes, Valya unexpectedly visits her uncle Evengy and her ambitious nephew Harrow after years of estrangement. Prior to entering their abode, she ominously tells her protégé, Theo, that “Sacrifices must be made.”This moment highlights Valya’s deep-seated sense of duty towards her Harkonnen lineage, intertwined with a quest for redemption and a burden of shame due to past actions linked to Vorian Atreides.

Once a respected figure on the Imperial home planet, Salusa Secundus, Valya’s fortunes shift with the arrival of Desmond Hart. Faced with her inability to challenge him directly, she pivots her strategy, aligning closely with Evengy and Harrow. Despite her position as the Mother Reverend Superior of the Sisterhood, Valya aspires to become House Harkonnen’s first Truthsayer, leveraging this role to elevate Harrow’s status within the High Council. Without powerful allies, Valya recognizes her political impotence, and hence, she seeks to fortify both Harrow’s standing and her family’s influence through her Truthsaying.

Valya astutely identifies Harrow’s yearning for authority and respect, planning to exploit this trait to forge her own path within another Great House, distinct from the Corrinos. Utilizing her clout within the Sisterhood, which demands unwavering loyalty to her directives, Valya orchestrates an atmosphere of suspicion surrounding the death of Pruwet Richese. The Truthsayers effectively convince representatives from other houses that Richese’s demise was no mere accident, but rather a suspicious act involving malfunctioning illicit technology.

Thanks to Valya’s strategic machinations, Harrow gains the confidence to publicly question the Emperor and the circumstances surrounding Pruwet Richese’s death. In episode 4, Harrow boldly presents his grievances to the High Council at Landsraad, thereby igniting a chain reaction that leads to Desmond Hart’s confession of “executing”Richese.
