Agatha All Along made its debut with the first two episodes on September 18, 2024, continuing the narrative of Agatha Harkness as she grapples with the aftermath of WandaVision. After losing her powers, she partners with a mysterious boy known only as the “Teen”to venture down the Witches’ Road, aiming to reclaim her abilities and establish a new coven to complete the required trials.
This new series not only reintroduces Agatha Harkness and her Coven of Witches but also presents the Salem’s Seven, setting them up as one of the main antagonistic forces within the storyline.
The Salem’s Seven make their initial appearance in the second episode, while they are first hinted at in the premiere. When Vidal assists in breaking Agatha’s spell, Agatha pleads for her life, warning her that the Salem’s Seven will pursue her as night approaches. As foretold, the Salem’s Seven soon confronts Agatha.
Clad in ominous black attire that evokes a haunting aura, the Salem’s Seven certainly deliver a chilling presence. However, Agatha All Along does not unveil the full backgrounds of these characters. To understand their significance better, let’s delve into their comic book origins.
Exploring Salem’s Seven in Agatha All Along
Before their appearance in Agatha All Along, the Salem’s Seven were introduced in The Fantastic Four #186, created by Len Wein and George Perez. This group comprises seven magically mutated superhumans who are siblings, sharing the same father, Nicholas Scratch. They are associated with New Salem, Colorado—a community known for its residents with occult abilities.
Intriguingly, Salem’s Seven also has a familial link to Agatha Harkness herself, as she is Nicholas Scratch’s mother, making her the grandmother of the Salem’s Seven members. The group is formed by half-siblings Vertigo, Brutacus, Gazelle, Hydron, Reptilla, Thornn, and Vakume.
Initially human, members of Salem’s Seven can transform into mutated forms that grant them superpowers. While Agatha All Along hasn’t confirmed a direct connection between the Salem’s Seven and Agatha Harkness, fans anticipate this revelation will emerge in the forthcoming episodes.
However, it’s uncertain whether Marvel Studios will maintain the original lore of these characters, as there is a possibility of altered backstories. Nevertheless, audiences can expect to uncover more about this iteration of Salem’s Seven in the upcoming episodes.
