The Great British Baking Show, also referred to as Collection 12, is returning for its 2024 season. This beloved baking competition showcases a diverse group of amateur bakers who face off in various baking challenges, all under the watchful eyes of esteemed judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Andy (Age: 44)
Andy is a 44-year-old car mechanic from Essex who enjoys popcorn as his favorite snack. His baking journey began with his mother, where he mastered family favorites such as apple crumble and Bakewell tarts. Now, Andy bakes for his partner, Nickie, and aims to inspire his daughter, Maisie.
Christian (Age: 33)
At 33, Christiaan is a menswear designer based in London. His favorite snack is salty crisps. Originally from Emmen in the Netherlands, his design skills shine through in his beautifully crafted bakes. He relocated to the UK seven years ago to pursue a career with a top fashion brand.
Dylan (Age: 20)
Dylan, a 20-year-old retail assistant from Buckinghamshire, enjoys salted popcorn. He recently took a gap year to explore Southeast Asia, immersing himself in different cultures and cuisines. His artistic flair is evident in his t-shirt designs featuring Japanese-inspired characters, influenced by his creative mother.
Georgie (Age: 34)
Georgie, 34, is a pediatric nurse from Carmarthenshire and a self-proclaimed chocoholic who loves combining crisps and chocolate. Her baking skills are greatly influenced by her Italian heritage and the time spent cooking with her grandmother, Nonna Rosa. Passionate about foraging, Georgie draws inspiration from nature.
Gill (Age: 53)
Gill, 53, is a senior category manager from Lancashire who enjoys a mix of salty popcorn and peanut M&Ms. Baking is a cherished family tradition for Gill, and after losing her father in 2015, it became a source of solace. She channels her baking talents to support Alzheimer’s charities, with her sticky toffee Christmas pudding being a family favorite.
Hazel (Age: 71)
At 71, Hazel is a former nail technician from Kent who relishes cheese and crackers, alongside crisps and popcorn. Married to her childhood sweetheart for over 51 years, she loves hosting large family gatherings that include her 10 grandchildren.
Yearly (Age: 31)
Illiyin, 31, is a birth trauma specialist midwife from London who enjoys salty popcorn. Growing up in a bustling household in Norfolk, she became the go-to person for birthday cakes. Now freelancing, she shares her home with her sister, nieces, Spanish husband, and their two children.
Jeff (Age: 67)
Jeff, a 67-year-old former university lecturer from West Yorkshire, originally hails from the Bronx, New York. His snack preferences include salted pistachios and grapes. After emigrating to the UK in 1979, Jeff began baking for his kids when they were young.
John (Age: 37)
John is a 37-year-old directorate support manager from the West Midlands who enjoys dunking biscuits in a cup of tea. His baking interest sparked as a child while learning from his grandmother to make fairy cakes and other treats, with lemon tart being one of his signature bakes. John has previously worked as a hairdresser and estate agent, eventually finding his place within the NHS.
Mike (Age: 29)
Mike, a 29-year-old farm manager from Wiltshire, has a passion for chocolate in all its forms. As a fourth-generation farmer, he was recently shortlisted for the Young Farmer of the Year at the 2024 National Arable and Grassland Awards. Mike is a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in agriculture and plans to include flowers from his farm in his upcoming wedding.
Nelly (Age: 44)
Nelly, a 44-year-old palliative care assistant from Dorset, enjoys making shortbread biscuits and cake. After growing up in Slovakia and moving to Austria, her baking skills flourished. She fuses her heritage with her husband’s Pakistani background, drawing from spices like apple and cinnamon.
Sumayah (Age: 19)
Sumayah, the youngest contestant at just 19, is a dentistry student from Lancashire who prefers dry cereal while watching TV. Currently on a gap year before her studies, she lives with her parents and siblings, demonstrating creativity in both baking and her other interests, including sewing and photography.
