Following the recent arrest of hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy”Combs, a rumor involving Drake has gained significant attention. A clip shared by an X account @RyanNice on September 17, 2024, featured Drake in a live session with Combs, expressing admiration for the mogul. The post was captioned with:
“Drake was inspired by Diddy to host “freak off parties” this s*it is f*cking unreal in hindsight…”
In the video, the Canadian rapper addressed Combs, stating:
“All my brothers behind me, we’re all trying to do the same thing, following your footsteps. You know every night we’re here pounding the pavement doing what we can do, and we all take care of each other. So it’s like you passing on the traditions and hustle onto us.”
The account holder asserted that during the live session, Drake was inspired by Diddy to host “freak off parties.”However, this claim is misleading; Drake never stated that he was motivated by Diddy regarding “freak off parties.” This was also echoed in the community notes for the tweet.
A user commented that the video originated from a livestream dated April 12, 2020, where Drake was discussing music and business rather than “freak off parties.”Consequently, the rumor was quickly debunked. The live session featured Combs in conversation with Drake, Will Smith, and Jordyn Woods. The community note attached to the misleading tweet read:
“The caption is clickbait, while the video has been edited. Nowhere does Drake mention being inspired by “freak offs” . He’s talking about business and music.”
It is crucial to highlight that this livestream occurred long before the recent allegations and lawsuits against Diddy emerged. Thus, the rumors can be classified as false.
KTVU reported that, according to the indictment, “Freak Offs”were described as “gatherings where Diddy allegedly misused his power to lure victims into s*x acts with male commercial s*x workers.”
The concept of “freak off parties”was called into question following the charges against Diddy.
For those unfamiliar, Sean “Diddy”Combs was arrested by federal authorities on Monday, September 16, on multiple charges including racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.
NBC News detailed that amid these charges, allegations concerning “freak off parties”and forced sexual acts were directed at the music mogul, who was accused of using controlled substances to maintain control over his victims.
The indictment stated:
“During Freak Offs, Combs distributed a variety of controlled substances to victims, in part to keep the victims obedient and compliant. After Freak Offs, Combs and the victims typically received IV fluids to recover from the physical exertion and drug use.”
KTVU also reported that the mogul faced further accusations of physically assaulting victims by dragging and kicking them during and following performances, resulting in injuries. Individuals alleged to have aided him in organizing the “freak off parties”were referred to as the “Combs Enterprise”in court documents.
According to the indictment, those included in the “Combs Enterprise”comprised “high-ranking supervisors, security staff, household staff, personal assistants, and other Combs business employees.”
In light of the latest updates in the case, Combs had pleaded not guilty at a Manhattan hearing. He was denied bail and was expected to remain in custody.
