Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 released Episode 16 on Monday, September 16, 2024. As the crew readied for their final charter, Ellie felt increasingly alienated, convinced she was being treated differently compared to the other crew, especially the newest member, Carrie.
Ellie voiced her frustrations about feeling unrecognized and undervalued since Carrie’s arrival. She noted that Aesha’s new approach towards her made her reluctant to put in the extra effort expected of her. Consequently, she began to slack off, hesitant to meet Aesha’s elevated standards.
In an effort to assert her dominance over Carrie, Ellie tried to make it clear what her position was on deck. She accused the newcomer of trying to undermine her by offering unsolicited suggestions at work. On one occasion, Ellie took over the radio to issue commands to her teammates, prompting Chief Stew Aesha to intervene and remind Ellie that she was not in charge.
Fans of Below Deck Mediterranean took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Ellie’s conduct. They pointed out her power-hungry demeanor as disruptive to her fellow crew members.
“I honestly don’t know how anyone can be a fan of Ellie. She’s so insufferable at every turn,”one fan wrote.
“Ellie is the type of person who was never told ‘no’ as a child,”another fan commented.
“Never seeing Ellie again will give us joy,”a netizen tweeted.
Numerous Below Deck Mediterranean viewers expressed their disapproval of Ellie’s lack of professionalism.
“Holy Hell, Ellie should have been FIRED! She’s such a pain in the a**! The boat wouldn’t have sucked your soul if you had done your job!!”a user reacted.
“Oh Ellie. Just shut up and do your job,”a person commented.
“Ellie is her own worst enemy. Relax girl!”a fan wrote.
Simultaneously, many Below Deck Mediterranean fans argued that Ellie had the wrong mindset for teamwork. They described her as perpetually envious of her colleagues, desperately seeking approval from her supervisors.
“Ellie, YOU are the common denominator on that ship with the inside crew. Every time there is a problem, you are in the middle of it. YOU are all about your ego,”a user tweeted.
“Ellie, if people keep kicking you out of situations you are trying to ‘help’ in, take a look at your attitude,”another netizen commented.
“Ellie, sweetie, you were overstepping so much their shadows thought they were yours,”a fan reacted.
Below Deck Mediterranean star Ellie seeks recognition
Since Carrie joined the crew, Ellie has felt that Aesha no longer acknowledged her contributions. She claimed that her superior showed bias towards the newcomer.
“There’s a palpable shift in Aesha’s behavior toward me ever since Carrie got onboard and I’m here, like, ‘What about me? Remember me?’”said Ellie.
Ellie articulated that Aesha’s changed demeanor had demotivated her, leading her to consider “checking out a little”due to feeling mistreated. Despite understanding Aesha’s desire for the “highest yacht standards,”Ellie chose not to put in her best effort.
When Aesha discovered multiple fingerprints on the doors and found Ellie “goofing off”in the crew mess, she publicly called out her lack of diligence, chastising her for “flouncing around”instead of keeping up with her responsibilities.
“It is like she’s trying to piss me off,”Aesha said.
In one episode segment, Ellie attempted to assert control over Carrie’s responsibilities, aiming to demonstrate her dominance. During a confessional, Carrie indicated that Ellie’s attempts to be the “alpha dog”were inconsequential as they lightened her workload.
However, when Carrie made work-related suggestions, it irked Ellie. The Below Deck Mediterranean cast member remarked:
“That feels amazing as a second stew having the floater tell me what to do at this point. At the same time, I’ve been kicked out of laundry but now Carrie can do laundry all of a sudden? What the f**k is going on?”
Tensions escalated when Aesha confronted Ellie about giving commands to the other crew members, pulling her aside to address her assertive behavior.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs every Monday at 9 PM ET exclusively on Bravo.
