In the vast world of Final Fantasy 14, players encounter a wealth of resources that enhance their gaming experience. Each expansion introduces new items that players can collect throughout Eorzea. These valuable materials can be acquired through myriad methods, including gathering with tools, fishing, or redeeming tokens, providing an engaging way to explore the game’s expansive landscapes.

Among these resources, Gaja Hide stands out as an essential crafting material often sought after for high-level gear. However, unlike other easily found items, Gaja Hide requires specific strategies to obtain. Players should familiarize themselves with the locations and techniques necessary for its acquisition.

As its name suggests, Gaja Hide is derived from a distinct creature rather than collected from the environment. Players can farm this item by defeating the Gaja, a formidable elephant-like creature that roams the southwestern region of Thavnair, a locale available in the Endwalker expansion. To find the Gaja, players can easily teleport to the Yedlihmad aetheryte in Thavnair and make their way to the spawn point located at coordinates (X:21, Y:29).

These Level 80 Gajas primarily employ close-range physical attacks, making them manageable opponents for players who summon their Chocobos for assistance. If players are appropriately leveled and well-equipped, they can efficiently defeat these creatures. The more Gajas you eliminate, the higher your chances of acquiring Gaja Hide, with a well-geared combat class like a Warrior recommended for enhanced durability during battles.

For those who prefer a more straightforward approach, Gaja Hide is also available for purchase. A visit to Gemstone Trader Mahveydah at coordinates (X:25.8, Y:34.6) within Thavnair allows players to acquire the hide for 2 Bicolor Gemstones each. Furthermore, once you have reached maximum Shared Fate Rank in all Endwalker locations, Gaja Hide can also be procured from the two Bicolor Gemstone Vendors in Radz-at-Han (X:11.1, Y:10.2) and Old Sharlayan (X:12.7, Y:10.4), again at the same price.

In summary, players can either farm Gaja Hide directly from the Gaja beasts or purchase it using spare Bicolor Gemstones. Once acquired, Gaja Hide can be transformed into Gaja Leather through the Leatherworker job (Disciple of Hand), which serves as vital material in crafting an array of Level 81-85 gear and weapons. Crafting those items will also require the expertise of various other jobs, including Alchemist, Weaver, Carpenter, and Blacksmith. If you’re interested in advancing your crafting skills, exploring the most effective leveling techniques will prove invaluable.
