Fortnite Guide: Changing Your Default Character Skin

Since the inception of Fortnite, default skins have played an integral role in the gameplay experience. At the start of Battle Royale, most players were limited to choosing the default skin. However, as Fortnite surged in popularity, Epic Games unveiled an array of cosmetics, leading to more players obtaining the Battle Pass and making default skins a rare choice. There was even a trend where accomplished players, commonly referred to as “sweats,”opted for default skins to create an impression of being novice players.

Fast forward seven years since Fortnite’s launch, and Epic Games has introduced a feature allowing players to personalize their choice of default skins. This guide will navigate players through the process of switching their default character in Fortnite.

How to Change Default Character in Fortnite

To change default skins, players should first navigate to the Locker tab in Fortnite. Within the Character section, clicking on the Outfit option is essential. If another skin is currently equipped, players should scroll to the top of the list and hover over the icon depicting a shirt on a hanger. At this point, they can select “Edit”or “Options”> “Edit Styles,”which will lead them to the menu for selecting default characters.

Once there, players can pick their desired default skin from the options presented. A total of 14 default models are available, along with a randomize button that allows players to select a random default character.
