Jang Na-ra portrays Cha Eun-kyung, a seasoned lawyer with 17 years of expertise in divorce cases, while Nam Ji-hyun plays the rookie lawyer Han Yu-ri, who initially has reservations about working with Cha Eun-kyung. Over the course of the series, Han Yu-ri develops into Cha Eun-kyung’s reliable partner as they confront new divorce cases in each episode.

As Good Partner wraps up, Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri work on helping their clients avoid divorce despite their opposing styles. In their personal lives, Cha Eun-kyung discovers a new secret about Jung Woo-jin (played by Kim Jun-han) in their latest case, while Jeon Eun-ho (Pyo Ji-hoon) proposes marriage to Han Yu-ri.

Good Partner Ending Explained: Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri’s Ongoing Rivalry

In the finale of Good Partner, episode 16 fast-forwards to a year later, where Kim Jae-hee enters middle school and Cha Eun-kyung expands her independent law firm clientele. Meanwhile, Han Yu-ri steps into a senior role and faces the challenge of mentoring a new recruit. A notable twist occurs when Park Ae-yeon (Son Ji-na), wife of Oh Dae-gyu (Jung Jae-sung), consults Jung Woo-jin at Daejeong Law Firm regarding her divorce case, despite the familial ties involved.

Upon discovering that Jung Woo-jin had assigned Park Ae-yeon’s case to Han Yu-ri, Oh Dae-gyu becomes enraged, as his law firm is meant to advocate for his wife. Undeterred, Han Yu-ri had already formalized her contract with Park Ae-yeon, prompting Oh Dae-gyu to seek representation from Cha Eun-kyung.

During the initial trial, Oh Dae-gyu disclosed his reluctance to proceed with the divorce, sparking a heated exchange with Park Ae-yeon. She expressed her feelings of neglect, revealing that she had spent their marriage merely as Oh Dae-gyu’s wife, raising another’s child. In retaliation, Oh Dae-gyu highlighted the unexpected arrival of his ex-girlfriend’s child as a catalyst for his turmoil, leaving both lawyers stunned.

Realizing the necessity for structured meetings, Cha Eun-kyung and Han Yu-ri facilitated further discussions between the couple. Oh Dae-gyu conceded to a divorce settlement if Park Ae-yeon sought reasonable alimony. When she requested 2 billion KRW, Oh Dae-gyu faced considerable hesitation.

Amidst yet another argument, the lawyers intervened to clarify their statements. Mustering courage, Oh Dae-gyu ultimately kneeled to genuinely apologize and express gratitude towards Park Ae-yeon.

Park Ae-yeon reciprocated by acknowledging her solitude over their three decades of marriage while also recognizing the comfort she gained from Oh Dae-gyu’s support. This dialogue helped the duo avoid a divorce initiated by Jung Woo-jin’s parents.

In the latter part of the finale, Cha Eun-kyung encourages her daughter Kim Jae-hee (Yuna) to reconnect with her father, Kim Ji-sang (Ji Seung-hyun). Facing similar experiences, Kim Jae-hee opts to consult Han Yu-ri before deciding, reflecting on the complexities of father-daughter relationships marred by infidelity.

Kim Jae-hee grapples with feelings of anger and longing towards her father but is encouraged by Han Yu-ri to confront him rather than avoiding contact altogether, based on her own regrets about not reconciling with her father before his passing.

In a pivotal moment, Cha Eun-kyung communicates with Kim Ji-sang, urging him to reach out to Kim Jae-hee, as she misses him. She reassures her daughter that although forgiveness may be difficult, reconnecting is essential; thus, Kim Ji-sang and Kim Jae-hee reunite after a year apart.

The chat leads to discussions about Han Yu-ri’s relationship with Jeon Eun-ho, revealing her uncertainty about her engagement.
