In A Christmas Story, Grover Dill serves as a prominent antagonist to Ralphie Parker, skillfully portrayed by Peter Billingsley. As Scut Farkus’ (Zack Ward) diminutive sidekick, Grover takes joy in bullying Ralphie and his friends, perpetuating the mischief fostered by the larger boy. Notably, Grover is first introduced in an alley scene where he and Scut confront Ralphie, Randy Parker (Ian Petrella), Schwartz (R. D. Robb), and Flick (Scott Schwartz), with Grover’s taunts complementing Scut’s physical aggression.

Since stepping back from full-time acting, Yano Anaya has embraced his ties to A Christmas Story, frequently sharing insights on social media, hosting the Talking A Christmas Story podcast, and overseeing the A Christmas Story Family LinkedIn group.

In November 2022, Anaya’s passion for the film reached a peak when he attempted to purchase the original A Christmas Story house (via TMZ). His interest was shared by other cast members, as he remarked:

“It only makes sense to have the cast run the show.”

The house had been acquired by Brian Jones in 2004, who transformed it into a museum and added several amenities, attracting over a million visitors. When the property went up for sale, Anaya showed enthusiasm; however, on November 27, 2022, a video surfaced showing a heated interaction between him and Jones outside the house.

While Anaya was taking photos with fans, Jones confronted him aggressively, instructing him to leave the premises. The situation escalated with Jones labeling Anaya a “scammer”concerning a GoFundMe campaign initiated by one of his fans for the house. Jones firmly declared:

“You guys ain’t gonna buy this place. I’m never selling it to you.”

Feeling confused by the accusation, Anaya sought clarification while the tirade continued. Following this unfortunate incident, Jones later issued a public apology, clarifying his concern was based on potential misleading contributions from fans towards the GoFundMe campaign:

“I apologize for the way I expressed myself. However, it was out of concern that fans could be misled into contributing…”

After some days of communication attempts, Anaya and Jones reconciled over breakfast on New Year’s Eve 2022 in Atlanta, where they discussed the misconceptions and misunderstandings that arose during their altercation (via TMZ). Although they have seemed to bury the hatchet, Anaya ultimately did not secure the house; it was purchased by Joshua Dickerson, an employee of the museum.

The cherished A Christmas Story House remains operational, continuing to delight fans and preserve the film’s legacy, with more details available on its official website, Housefromachristmasstory.
