Dragon Quest 3 Remake presents players with a vast array of items and equipment, which can make it challenging to determine the most beneficial ones to pursue. In this guide, we will simplify your journey by focusing on one of the most valuable items in the game: the Sage’s Stone. This extraordinary item allows you to heal your party without the expenditure of any MP, making it especially advantageous in the later stages and post-game content. While acquiring the Sage’s Stone may require some effort—particularly towards the end of the game—the rewards are well worth it.
Acquiring the First Sage’s Stone in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Obtaining the Sage’s Stone requires you to progress to one of the final stages in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, specifically within Zoma’s Citadel.
Reaching Zoma’s Citadel
The Zoma’s Citadel represents the concluding dungeon in the primary storyline, and gaining access to it necessitates significant exploration. After defeating Baramos, your objective will shift to collecting three crucial items that enable the creation of the Rainbow Bridge leading to the citadel:
- Sunstone: Located in Tantegal Castle.
- Staff of Rain: Uncovered at the Shrine of the Spirit.
- Sacred Amulet: Found in the Tower of Rubiss after defeating the Soul of Baramos and liberating Rubiss.
Once you’ve gathered all these items, you’ll be prompted to construct the Rainbow Bridge that will allow you to enter the citadel grounds with ease.
Finding the Sage’s Stone in Zoma’s Citadel
As you venture into Zoma’s Citadel, your aim should be to reach level B4. Exercise caution; the dungeon is inhabited by formidable monsters that present considerable challenges if your party is not sufficiently leveled. There are a couple of sections leading to B4 that may require extra effort:
To navigate out of B1, head to the rear of Zoma’s throne located at the north end. Activate the Safe Passage spell before approaching the throne to avoid taking damage from the electrified floor. When the ‘Interact’ prompt appears, you can access a hidden staircase leading to B2.
The second challenging area consists of arrow tiles on B2. Understanding their mechanics is pivotal; regardless of your orientation, the blue arrows will always direct you north while the yellow tiles direct you south. For a blue-yellow pattern, moving down will take you east and moving up will take you west. The inverse applies when the tiles are arranged yellow-blue.
Upon reaching B4, consult the map to locate three locked chambers. Inside the central chamber, you’ll discover six treasure chests. The first Sage’s Stone can be found in the chest on the right.
Acquiring the Second Sage’s Stone in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
After defeating Zoma, players enter an extensive post-game sequence that begins at the Church of the Dragon Queen. This area, labeled as ???, involves traversing through several dungeons once again before finally arriving at Cloudsgate Citadel. Within this citadel, your quest to obtain the second Sage’s Stone begins by engaging with the Bard NPC, who will challenge you with three riddles.
Cloudsgate Citadel Riddles
The Bard can be found in the chamber directly east of the king. Upon speaking to him, he will present the first riddle:
- Riddle 1: Find the solution in the church ruins located in Theddon. Interact with the pitchfork-like statue to discover a set of Beast Claws.
- Riddle 2: In front of the western building in Cantlin, interact with the flower bed to acquire the Dark Robe.
- Riddle 3: Travel to Lozamii and enter the large building on the eastern island. Go upstairs to find a large telescope, and interact with it to receive the second Sage’s Stone.
Now that you possess both Sage’s Stones, be sure to distribute them among your party members’ inventories. The Sage’s Stone can be utilized as an item during combat, enhancing your strategies significantly.
