Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is an enduring classic beloved by gamers for its rich narrative, engaging combat, and an expansive variety of weapons, all set against the backdrop of iconic planets. If you’ve previously obtained the Sith Armor in Taris and are ready to explore Kashyyyk, you likely seek guidance on how to locate the Star Map there.
To commence this journey, you must first enter the treacherous Kashyyyk Shadowlands, a dauntingly vast forest that poses numerous dangers. Your path will involve interacting with key characters and battling powerful foes to ultimately reach the Star Map, inching closer to the coveted Star Forge. Below is a detailed guide on navigating to the Kashyyyk Star Map in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
How To Access the Kashyyyk Star Map
Upon stepping onto the forest floor of Kashyyyk, be prepared for immediate hostility. You’ll encounter Calo Nord, who has survived Taris’s destruction and is eager for revenge—this only occurs if Kashyyyk is your first destination following Taris. If you’ve previously vanquished him on another location, this encounter will not happen.
After dealing with Calo, navigate through the Shadowlands until you find Jolee Bindo battling a horde of Katarns. Assist him and engage in conversation. Jolee will ask for your help to deal with some Czerka hunters located northeast of his position, promising to join you in return.
Following Jolee’s directions will lead you to the hunters’ camp. You can choose to eliminate them (though Jolee discourages this action), persuade them to leave peacefully, or propose collaboration with them. Regardless of your choice, Jolee will join your party. However, if you opt for violence, be mindful that it will incur Dark Side points, which could affect your gameplay if you aim for a Light Side path.
Once you’ve handled the Czerka hunters, head back to Jolee to report your success. He will officially join your team, adding his formidable Jedi skills to your arsenal. Proceed back to where you found the hunters and continue until you encounter a purple force field. Jolee will disable this barrier long enough for you to advance to the Lower Shadowlands of Kashyyyk.
Upon entering the Lower Shadowlands, you’ll witness a confrontation between Mandalorians and a Wookiee. Aid the Wookiee by defeating the Mandalorians and offer a Medpac to assist him with his injuries. He might then propose a side quest: eliminating additional Mandalorians in exchange for a reward—whether you accept this quest is entirely up to you.
Further exploration of this area will reveal additional quests and encounters, including a significant confrontation with a beast and eventually, the Kashyyyk Star Map itself. You will recognize it by the holographic interface featuring a Rakatan guardian labeled as “Computer.”
How To Respond to the Guardian’s Queries
Similar to the puzzle faced in Naga Sadow’s tomb on Korriban, the security measures safeguarding this Star Map will challenge your intellect. The holographic guardian will pose a series of questions to assess your worthiness as the past user’s successor. Here are the necessary answers:
- Question 1: “I’m unsure what Zaalbar would say. I would accuse him to be safe.”
- Question 2: “I prepare my forces to attack in ten days. I do nothing in the city.”
- Question 3: “That’s right. The deaths of those people would spur my forces on.”
- Question 4: “I let the attack happen.”
Providing these answers will allow you to access the Star Map. For those seeking an additional challenge and a reward of 1,200 XP, consider intentionally answering incorrectly. This will trigger a termination protocol, summoning two spider droids equipped with energy shields for an intense battle. Triumphing over them will demonstrate your capability, affirming to the guardian that you have indeed met the necessary criteria. Regardless of the method taken, gaining access to the Star Map is guaranteed—a beneficial outcome on all fronts.
