Naughty Dog commemorates September 26 as The Last of Us Day annually, often sharing special insights or updates. While there are no upcoming releases for the franchise in terms of video games, fans can look forward to the second season of HBO’s acclaimed adaptation, which is currently in development. This year, we received an exciting glimpse into what’s to come.

A fresh trailer reveals scenes from the much-anticipated second season, featuring moments that fans of The Last of Us Part 2 will find familiar. These include poignant interactions between Joel and Ellie, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) navigating through a swarm of Infected beneath a chain link fence, and Ellie serenading Dina (Isabela Merced) with a heartfelt song.

The trailer also offers a look at several other characters, such as Tommy, alongside new faces like Jessie (Young Mazino) and Isaac (played by Jeffrey Wright, reprising his role from the game). Brief glimpses of the Seraphites, the Washington Liberation Front (W.L.F.), and numerous Infected traversing snowy landscapes, likely in Jackson, can be seen as well. You can check out the trailer below.

The second season of The Last of Us is slated to debut in 2025, with reports suggesting it will air in the first half of the year. As previously stated, Season 2 will consist of seven episodes and will not encompass the entire storyline of The Last of Us Part 2.
