The Mantis Claw is particularly valuable, allowing players to cling to walls for rapid vertical navigation in narrow passages. Below, we outline the steps required to obtain the Mantis Claw in Hollow Knight.

How to Obtain the Mantis Claw

To begin your journey toward acquiring the Mantis Claw, you must first access the Fungal Wastes. This area can be reached through the Forgotten Crossroads on the map. Look for Queen’s Station, and pay the toll to unlock the Stag Beetle fast travel location, which will be your key to navigating this region.

Once you have activated the Stag Station and rested on the bench, exit the station and scale to the top of the room. Navigate through the right entrance while evading the balloon enemies that spew poison. Descend carefully through the openings in the floor until a bench sign directs you downward. Watch out for flying foes and mantis that may attack to thwart your progress. As you reach the designated bench, take a moment to save your game, preventing unwanted backtracking in case of defeat.

After saving, return upward but remain within the area. You’ll encounter a flying enemy and a mantis on your ascent. You can choose to engage in combat or avoid their attacks and head toward the left entrance.

This entrance leads you into the initial section of the Mantis Village. As you move left, exercise caution to avoid falling into acid pools or getting overwhelmed by the hostile mantis. Continue to the left until you reach a large lever that must be activated to progress toward obtaining the Mantis Claw.

After activating the lever, ascend to the room directly above it, where a bright white dot can be seen in the adjacent chamber—this dot signifies the Mantis Claw. Navigate through the area until you successfully acquire the Mantis Claw, a crucial asset needed to exit the village, regardless of whether you plan to face the Mantis Lords.

Applications of the Mantis Claw

Beyond merely exiting the Mantis Village, the Mantis Claw serves as a prerequisite for obtaining the Crystal Heart ability. This ability is essential for acquiring the Monarch Wings, which enable double jumps. While players can complete the game without some skills, mastering all abilities is crucial for exploring every region, collecting all Mask Shards, achieving 112% completion, and enhancing the overall gaming experience.
