Horizon Forbidden West Enhancements: Depth of Field, Shadow Improvements, and More on PS5 Pro

Following its initial rating by the ESRB, Guerrilla Games has officially announced that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is set to release on PS5 and PC. With the imminent launch of the PS5 Pro, many players are curious about how this remastered version will take advantage of the enhanced hardware capabilities. Additionally, there’s interest in the upgrades coming to Horizon Forbidden West, which has already been confirmed to support the new console.

In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Jan-Bart van Beek, the studio and art director, revealed that Forbidden West will deliver “visual quality that matches or exceeds the Quality mode on the standard PlayStation 5, now achieving 60 FPS” on the PS5 Pro, an increase from the previous 30 FPS. The Decima Engine has also seen enhancements for improved depth of field, skin and hair shaders, god rays, shadows, and clouds.

The Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered edition will natively support the PS5 Pro from the start, incorporating a “variety of graphical enhancements.” While van Beek did not provide specific details on these upgrades, he emphasized the “ultra-high fidelity with exceptionally fast framerates.”

Set to launch on October 31st, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will retail for $49.99, but original game owners can upgrade for just $9.99. Note that a PlayStation Network account is required for PC players.
