Indie Game Awards Winner Revealed, Plus All Nominees Available for Purchase on Steam

The Indie Game Awards 2024 recently unveiled its winners, showcasing an eclectic array of genres and artistic styles that highlight the creativity of independent developers. Organized annually by Six One Indie, this event shines a light on smaller titles often overshadowed by major studio releases.

This year’s event featured a diverse selection of nominees produced by up-and-coming developers, all evaluated by a carefully chosen panel of judges. Streaming live on December 19th via the Indie Game Awards website, the ceremony revealed winners across 14 categories, including the highly coveted Indie Game of the Year. Balatro did not only clinch the title of Game of the Year at the Indie Game Awards 2024, but also secured the award for Gameplay Design.

In addition, Balatro achieved significant recognition at the broader Game Awards earlier this month, where it competed against blockbuster titles like Elden Ring and Final Fantasy VII. This indie darling earned accolades for “Best Independent Game,””Best Mobile Game,”and “Best Debut Indie Game”before ultimately losing the title of Overall Game of the Year to Astro Bot.
