Sabrina Carpenter surprised her fans on May 26 during her performance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2024 in Luton, England. While performing a live rendition of her hit song “Nonsense,”she cleverly played with abbreviations.

“BBC said I should keep it PG/BBC I wish I had it in me/There’s a double meaning if you dig deep,”she sang.

While some fans appreciated her bold NSFW pun, others challenged the songstress for what they perceived as the hypersexualization of black men.

This wasn’t the first time Sabrina Carpenter used ‘BBC’ in a suggestive context. She had previously employed the same abbreviation during a 2023 performance at a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge Session. During that rendition of “Nonsense,”she sang:

“I’m American, I am not British / So BBC, it stands for something different.”

Initially, the BBC uploaded the full, uncensored version of her performance but later removed it and shared an edited version with those lines omitted.
