Since the announcement of Apple’s most significant software update, users have eagerly anticipated the latest Apple Intelligence features. With such extensive promotion over the past few months, the incorporation of AI technology has been a standout element of the new iPhone lineup. However, the availability of Apple Intelligence remains uncertain. Is Apple Intelligence Available in iOS 18?
Unfortunately, iOS 18 does not include Apple Intelligence at its launch. Typically, Apple rolls out new software updates comprehensively, but this year has been unusual for iOS. While the latest update features foundational improvements such as a revamped Control Center and RCS Messaging, Apple Intelligence is not a component of the initial iOS 18 release. Additionally, we might not see certain Apple Intelligence features until 2025, including the anticipated Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and an updated Siri with contextual understanding.

When Will Apple Intelligence Arrive?

Apple Intelligence is expected to be accessible on all compatible devices starting in October in U.S. English. The AI features will begin to be made available to eligible users through new iOS 18.x updates commencing in October. For users outside the United States, Apple Intelligence will launch in December for countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Other language support, including French, Chinese, Japanese, and Spanish, is anticipated to follow in 2025.
Not All iOS 18 iPhones Will Get Apple Intelligence
It’s essential to recognize that not all iPhones will support Apple’s upcoming AI system. Even if your iPhone is listed among the iOS 18-compatible devices, this doesn’t guarantee that it will be included in the Apple Intelligence compatibility list. Specifically, Apple Intelligence requires at least an A17 Pro chipset or M-Series chips (for iPads & Macs). Consequently, only the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models will be able to utilize Apple Intelligence. Unfortunately, if you own an older model, including last year’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, you will not have access to features like Writing Tools, the Summarize feature, Reduce Interruptions Focus Mode, and more. Upgrading your iPhone will be necessary to access all AI functionalities.
