The enigmatic Misty Island sits just out of reach in the early stages of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. This location is notorious for marking the turning point in the game when Daxter suffers his heartbreaking transformation into an Ottsel. It’s only natural that Jak would have reservations about revisiting this perilous place. However, for those adventurous souls willing to confront their fears, Misty Island is packed with hidden gems and treasures, provided you can find a way to get there.
To embark on your journey to Misty Island, your first task is to assist the fisherman in capturing 200 pounds of fish from the river located in the Forbidden Jungle. Completing this task rewards you with a Power Cell, granting you access to the Speedboat in Sandover Village, which is your means of reaching Misty Island.
Retrieve the Sculptor’s Muse
Upon arriving on Misty Island, your initial mission is to locate the lost Muse of the Sculptor. If you communicated with him back in Sandover, you’ll recall that the Muse resembles a golden creature akin to Daxter. You’ll find it scampering near the docks but catching it will prove to be challenging. Prepare for an agile pursuit as it deftly navigates the area. Utilize the roll jump to close the distance effectively.
To facilitate your chase, remove any obstacles by smashing large bones along the Muse’s path, creating vital shortcuts for Jak. Familiarize yourself with the Muse’s movements, improving your platforming skills to stay in close pursuit, and try to anticipate its sharp turns to intercept it. Once you succeed in capturing the Muse, return to Sandover Village to deliver it to the Sculptor and claim your Power Cell. Given the other tasks on Misty Island, it’s wise to save this for later.
Utilize Blue Eco to Access the Power Cell
After securing the Muse, retrace your steps to where you first found it and veer right to encounter a platforming challenge adorned with Blue Eco orbs, leading toward a Precursor Door. Collect plentiful Blue Eco as you maneuver to the right; there will be time to deal with the door later. Instead, direct your focus to the Precursor Platform visible in the third image. Energized by Blue Eco, activating the platform allows you to cross the gap and reach the Power Cell.
Return to the Dark Eco Pool
Your next Power Cell calls for a return to the adventure’s starting point. Before heading back, prepare for a fierce arena battle. Charge up using Blue Eco and approach the large Precursor Door noted earlier. Once inside, expect an onslaught of Lurkers attacking in waves while some rain explosive shots from above. Utilize the Red Eco drops from defeated Lurkers to help eliminate threats swiftly, remaining agile to dodge explosives. After clearing the area, ascend the stairs to access the Dark Eco Pool and collect the Power Cell.
Ascend the Lurker Ship
After the arena battle, take a right to find the trail leading toward Misty Island’s Bay. Here, a Lurker Ship awaits, accessible via a bridge. Upon crossing the bridge, navigate around the right side of the ship to scale it to the top and claim another Power Cell.
Disable the Cannon
Continuing your ascent from the previous Power Cell, sprint up the ramp while dodging the logs hurled by Lurkers. Jump over any rolling logs and duck under bouncing ones. Use the side platforms to pause and regain composure as needed. Upon reaching the top, eliminate the two Lurkers stationed by the cannon overlooking the arena to receive a Power Cell. Additionally, utilize the cannon to demolish the metal boxes below for more Precursor Orbs.
Eliminate the Balloon Lurkers
Now that the cannon is dealt with, hop onto the Zoomer to confront the Balloon Lurkers flying over the bay. Drive to the Zoomer trans-pad, which is located across from the Lurker Ship, and take to the skies. Use your vehicle to ram into the Lurkers operating the balloons, thereby destroying them along with the balloons themselves.
Exercise caution while maneuvering to avoid the explosive mines located nearby. Utilize the Zoomer’s brakes, accelerator, and hop function to navigate effectively. Approaching the balloons from the side usually proves advantageous, as it allows you to dodge mines while targeting the Lurkers. Since the Balloon Lurkers follow predetermined paths and don’t react to Jak’s presence, strategize your attacks to catch them in the best positions before striking.
Once you successfully eliminate five Balloon Lurkers, a Power Cell will be yours.
Utilize the Zoomer to Acquire the Power Cell
With the Balloon Lurkers taken care of, it’s time to secure that elusive floating Power Cell. Accelerate up the ramp shown in the first image, turning right to navigate around the rock as depicted in the second image. Build up speed and make a well-timed hop just before the edge to snatch both Precursor Orbs and the Power Cell.
Locate the Seven Scout Flies
Your final task is to track down the seven hidden Scout Flies scattered across Misty Island. The first Scout Fly is along the route taken when you chased the Muse. As it passes over a seesaw with a boulder, jump on the opposite end and use a ground pound to launch the boulder upwards. When the boulder falls, it will catapult you onto the cliff, revealing a Scout Fly Box.
The next two Scout Fly Boxes are positioned close to each other before you reach the arena door (the one where you activated the moving platform with Blue Eco). One is accessible via a crumbling path depicted in the image above, while the second is found through a gap to the left.
After exiting the arena, take the left path, and utilize the seesaw on the left side to ascend the cliffs and find another Scout Fly Box here overlooking the Bay.
The subsequent two Scout Fly Boxes are at the Lurker Ship in the Bay. One is located on the ship just beyond the bridge, while the other can be found by scaling the ramp with the rolling logs, resting on a safe platform off to the side halfway up.
The final Scout Fly Box can be discovered while riding the Zoomer in the Bay. The same ramp mentioned in the section “Use the Zoomer to Reach the Power Cell”also hosts this Scout Fly Box near its peak. Once you have collected this Power Cell, you’ll only need to return to Sandover to deliver the Muse back to the Sculptor, completing your adventures on Misty Island.
