Jake Tapper Debunks JD Vance’s Unfounded Conspiracy Theory: ‘You Made It Up’

CNN’s Jake Tapper did not allow JD Vance to evade tough inquiries regarding Donald Trump and John Kelly.

During their interview, Tapper pressed Vance about a claim he made concerning John Kelly. Earlier, Vance had accused Kelly of being in cahoots with Kamala Harris’ campaign team. Tapper noted that he had conversations with individuals from both Harris’ campaign and Kelly’s circle, both of whom have denied any communication between the two.

Vance expressed his “highly skeptical” position about the denial of contact between Kelly and Harris’ campaign. “You know how these attacks operate,” he stated, attempting to steer the discussion into a more conspiratorial tone, but Tapper kept the focus clear.

“So you fabricated that?” Tapper questioned, to which Vance denied any such fabrication, maintaining a stance of skepticism towards the media and the Democratic establishment. He also indicated that he would “apologize” to John Kelly if it was verified that there was no communication with Harris’ campaign. Kelly had previously provided a character reference for Trump—given his extensive history working with him. Conversely, Vance alleged without substantial proof that Kelly was involved with the Harris campaign.

A Campaign Based on Falsehoods

Apologizing only after the harm is done is a strategy Vance has repeatedly utilized during the campaign. He was corrected about Haitian immigrants not consuming pets but chose to perpetuate the misleading notion anyway. In the CNN segment, Tapper confronted Vance about Trump’s intention to mobilize military force against “the enemy within,” which refers to dissidents in America—an assertion Vance rejected.

Despite clear evidence of Trump saying such words on the record, Vance merely dismissed these critics as “far-left lunatics.” Comments on the CNN footage remark that this indeed constitutes gaslighting. However, it’s more than that; Vance is deliberately misrepresenting facts to deceive voters.
