Jared Leto Takes On Skeletor Role in Upcoming Live-Action Masters Of The Universe Movie Alongside Three Additional Villains

The Masters of the Universe franchise is re-energizing its narrative with the introduction of four formidable new antagonists in its upcoming film. Originating as a toy line in 1982, the series has evolved into a rich sci-fi fantasy universe that chronicles the epic confrontations between the hero He-Man and the nefarious Skeletor on the mystical planet of Eternia. Following its roots, the series also featured a notable animated series that began airing in 1983. The highly anticipated live-action adaptation will see Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the role of He-Man, with Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Elba portraying Duncan, better known as Man-at-Arms.

In an exciting announcement, Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, Inc. revealed the addition of several new villains to the cast, building upon the previously announced Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn. Notably, Jared Leto has joined the cast as the iconic Skeletor, the dreaded sorcerer characterized by his skull-like visage, whose ambitions reach far beyond Eternia. Joining Leto in this star-studded ensemble are Sam C. Wilson as the mechanized villain Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as the fearsome Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as the visually striking bounty hunter Tri-Klops.

With an expanded roster of villains, the Masters of the Universe film must embrace the distinctive characteristics that made these figures memorable in the original He-Man series. This new wave of talent, many of whom have impressive backgrounds in villainous roles, promises to effectively bring these characters to life. For instance, Jared Leto recently made waves as Morbius, while also leaving his mark as antagonists such as Niander Wallace in Blade Runner 2049 and the formidable Joker in both Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Notably, Leto is not alone in this challenge. Sam C. Wilson, who gained recognition as Blood in House of the Dragon, recently took on the role of Bill Sikes, another classic antagonist, in the series Dodger. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, well-known for his portrayal of The Mountain in Game of Thrones, has embodied other intimidating figures like Thorfinnr Tooth-Gnasher in 2022’s The Northman. Kojo Attah rounds out the ensemble, having honed his craft in diverse supporting roles across significant projects like The Beekeeper, Wrath of Man, and Supacell. Together, their extensive experience positions them to infuse the animated characters with newfound depth and vitality.
