Insights from Jujutsu Kaisen’s New Epilogue
In the newly released epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen, included in the series’ final volume, creator Gege Akutami provides an insightful and detailed update on the fates of key characters following the harrowing struggles against Kenjaku and Sukuna. This additional chapter grants fans a sense of closure for character arcs that previously felt left in limbo, especially in the case of Yuta Okkotsu.
While Yuta does not have a dedicated portion in the epilogue, his presence is felt significantly through the narrative surrounding Panda. Set decades after Sukuna’s ultimate defeat, the chapter explores Panda’s life as a sentient cursed corpse. Although now unable to move, Panda retains his keen perception and intellect, existing in a static form as an endearing “teddy panda.”A humorous moment arises when young children discover Panda, only to dismiss him as junk—Panda’s indignation is palpable, especially since he realizes they are Yuta’s descendants.
Yuta Okkotsu’s Legacy: A Family Man
Yuta Embraces Family and Responsibility
Panda’s frustration likely stems from nostalgia regarding his critical role in Yuta’s evolution and his involvement during the Shibuya Incident. He feels that the younger generation lacks an appreciation for the sacrifices of those before them, a sentiment that reflects a longing for the values of “back in the day.”
Most striking in this narrative is the revelation that Yuta is now a grandfather. Throughout the Jujutsu Kaisen series, family and lineage have been central themes, with Yuta initially portrayed as a relatively inexperienced sorcerer. This transition to becoming the head of his own family reveals significant character growth. Yuta, previously known for his intense love for Rika, has ultimately carved out a life filled with love and familial bonds.

Maki Zenin: The Catalyst for Yuta’s Transformation
An intriguing element of the epilogue is the mention of Yuta’s unidentified partner. Fans have speculated that the physical resemblance of Yuta’s grandchildren could hint at their lineage. Analysis by social media users @biyuuji and @okkotsuloml suggests they closely resemble members of the Zenin clan.
This implication leads to the conclusion that the children’s grandmother is Maki Zenin, a significant figure in Yuta’s life. Maki helped him confront his emotional struggles, effectively encouraging him to move on from Rika and forge a new path. Interestingly, Rika’s engagement ring has transformed into a necklace worn by Yuta’s granddaughter, symbolizing a break from the past.
This conclusion not only feels satisfying but also resonates intuitively, revealing narratives that fans perhaps should have anticipated from earlier arcs.
The final volume containing Jujutsu Kaisen‘s epilogue was released in Japan on December 25, 2024, with an English edition set to be available in 2025.
