This article contains significant spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Gege Akutami’s exceptional Shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen, concluded with Chapter 271 this weekend after more than six years of gripping storytelling. Following Gojo’s unexpected defeat at the hands of Sukuna, the King of Curses, fans held onto hope for the return of the Six Eyes sorcerer. Although Yuta temporarily took over Gojo’s body, it symbolically represented Gojo’s presence on the battlefield. However, in the epilogue, Yuta’s soul returned to his original body, which rekindled fan hopes for Gojo’s revival in the final chapter of the JJK manga. So, does Gojo Satoru come back to life in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271? Let’s delve into it.
Is Gojo Revived in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Chapter?
As an avid Jujutsu Kaisen manga reader, I initially wanted our beloved sensei to return from the grave. The way Gojo was killed by Sukuna was shocking. Nevertheless, as his student Itadori Yuji began to shine, it became evident that it was time for Yuji to step up as the protagonist, just as Gojo intended.
However, in a surprising twist back in Chapter 261, Gege surprised everyone by having Yuta take over Gojo’s body. At least in this manner, Gojo’s return was meaningful and didn’t overshadow the main character.
In the end, Yuta managed to return to his own body, largely thanks to Rika’s influence. We were also astonished to see Higuruma cheat death. These unexpected developments leading up to the finale instilled fresh hope in the fans, who subsequently theorized about Gojo’s potential return. Even our Editor Anmol proposed an intriguing yet plausible theory about how Gojo could come back.
Sadly, all these theories were for naught, as Gojo wasn’t revived in the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, disappointing many fans.
Gojo Satoru Did Return in JJK’s Final Chapter But Not How We Expected
While Gege Akutami didn’t resurrect Gojo Satoru, he did make an appearance in the final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen. Satoru was featured in a flashback sequence in JJK Chapter 271, during which he conversed with Yuji.
In this poignant exchange, the strongest sorcerer acknowledged how his students might forget him as they evolve in their sorcerer journeys. However, Yuji reassured him by emphasizing that no one could forget their sensei. It was evident that Gojo, despite his achievements, felt a sense of isolation, and Yuji’s words provided him with validation in his final moments.
Consistent with our observations, Satoru had high hopes for Itadori Yuji. This moment resonated deeply with fans who have cherished Gojo over the years. Despite these touching interactions finishing off Gojo’s arc nicely, Gege chose not to explicitly reference Gojo’s death in the concluding chapters, nor did he provide him with a fitting farewell.
Looking back at the last few chapters, Gojo’s demise was never mentioned or acknowledged at all. We saw Tsumiki Fushiguro’s grave, yet our beloved sensei didn’t receive a burial scene.
This omission left many Gojo fans disheartened. Conversely, some in the fandom are interpreting this positively, believing that Gojo may return in Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2, as his death was never definitively addressed by Gege. However, this is largely speculative, as no sequel for Jujutsu Kaisen is currently planned or forthcoming.
To summarize, Gojo Satoru is indeed deceased and did not make a comeback in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271, unlike other side characters. How do you feel about this resolution? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
