New Insights from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter #271.5 Epilogue
The recently published epilogue of Jujutsu Kaisen, crafted by creator Gege Akutami, delves into several character arcs that were left unresolved in the series’ concluding chapter. This addition serves to not only bring closure to characters but also to illuminate the future landscape of the Jujutsu Sorcery community and its next generation of sorcerers.
Panda’s Journey: From Champion to Mentor
In a noteworthy segment focusing on Panda, fans discover that this endearing cursed corpse continues to thrive decades following the dramatic defeat of Ryomen Sukuna and Kenjaku. Now more of a sentimental companion than a formidable Grade 2 Jujutsu Sorcerer, Panda finds solace under the protection of his former classmate, Yuta Okkotsu. The circumstances leading to this arrangement are equally compelling, particularly in light of Yuta’s rise within the Jujutsu community, as he officially acquired “custody”of Panda after assuming leadership of the Gojo Clan.
The Legacy of Satoru Gojo
The Indelible Mark of an Iconic Sorcerer
Despite rarely being present throughout the storyline, Satoru Gojo’s influence is undeniably profound. Few characters in manga or anime have cast such a long shadow while appearing in only select scenes. Although Gojo was instrumental in the ultimate defeat of Kenjaku and Sukuna, their removal marks not the end of Jujutsu Sorcery. In fact, the community may now face greater turmoil due to the loss of many sorcerers, amplifying the need for effective leadership. Even with Sukuna and Kenjaku’s absence, the responsibilities of safeguarding the world persist.
Yuta: The Prophesied Successor
Yuta stepping into Gojo’s role was a concept deeply rooted in the narrative. Gojo had envisioned him, alongside Hakari, as a potential heir. However, throughout the final chapters, it became apparent that Yuji Itadori positioned himself as the primary successor. Yuji’s decisive actions, culminating in his confrontation with Sukuna, not only showed his capacity to combat evil but also his potential for leadership in this new era of Jujutsu Sorcery—one that favors individual might over lineage or tradition.

The epilogue reinforces that Yuta not only resembles Gojo in terms of strength and abilities, but he also carries the potential to surpass him in time. Notably, he is currently the last remaining Special Grade Sorcerer. Although Yuta did not retain Gojo’s abilities following their brain swap, he gained invaluable experiences that will serve him well.
Yuta stands as a remarkable embodiment of Jujutsu traditions while also paving the way for progress. His depth of understanding of the Jujutsu Sorcery community, paired with a strong international network, including significant ties to characters like Miguel Oduol, make him an exemplary leader. His innate ability to rally others around him during critical moments, like the strategy formulation for the duel against Kenjaku and Sukuna, further solidifies his readiness to take on Gojo’s mantle.
In essence, Yuta’s ascendance as Gojo’s successor encapsulates a significant arc in Jujutsu Kaisen, signaling a harmonious continuation of its legacy.
