Key Avengers Not Yet Featured in Marvel Rivals

Since its inception in the early 1960s, the Avengers have undergone myriad roster changes and have even given rise to several spinoff teams. Despite these transformations, certain characters have become iconic representatives of the Avengers. One such platform highlighting many of these heroes is Marvel Rivals.

Marvel Rivals boasts a diverse roster of 33 characters, drawing inspiration from various sectors of the Marvel universe. Included in this lineup are some of the most recognizable Avengers—Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk—as well as offshoots like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Squirrel Girl, and even fan-favorite Jeff the Land Shark. However, several key Avengers characters are notably absent and are deserving of a spot in Marvel Rivals.

Ant-Man and Wasp

The Avengers made their debut in 1963 with five founding heroes. While Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor have made their appearances in Marvel Rivals, the original roster is incomplete without Ant-Man and Wasp. Both heroes possess the ability to manipulate size through Pym Particles, offering unique gameplay opportunities.

To distinguish their abilities, Marvel Rivals could introduce Hank Pym’s enlarged persona, Giant-Man/Goliath, as a Vanguard, while Wasp could be classified as either a Duelist or Specialist, enriching gameplay diversity.

Captain Marvel

While not part of the original Avengers, Carol Danvers has been a staple on the team, with numerous reappearances throughout its history. Her journey saw her join as Warbird in the 90s and then later as Captain Marvel, reflecting her evolution as a character.

Captain Marvel would make an excellent addition as a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, utilizing her superhuman strength, energy absorption, and flight capabilities to dominate the battlefield.

Wonder Man

Wonder Man, who made his first appearance in 1964’s The Avengers #4, has yet to feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although a show is currently in development for Disney+. Initially introduced as a villain, Wonder Man eventually became an integral member of the Avengers from 1977 onward.

With his impressive physique and unique powers—ionic energy manipulation, superhuman strength, agility, and teleportation—Wonder Man would be an exciting choice for a new Vanguard character in Marvel Rivals.

Quicksilver

Introduced in 1964 as a foe to the X-Men alongside his sister, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver quickly transitioned to one of the original Avengers by 1965. Even though Scarlet Witch is part of the Marvel Rivals lineup, Quicksilver’s absence is notable. His exceptional speed would offer a fresh and vital gameplay dynamic as a Duelist in the game.

Vision

Since his debut in 1968, Vision has remained an essential member of the Avengers. His ability to phase through objects, create decoys, and regenerate makes him a perfect candidate for a Specialist role in Marvel Rivals, complementing the game’s tactical diversity.
