Although I do not identify as a Christian, I am aware of the concept of idolatry, which is notably outlined in the Ten Commandments. The commandment states, “You shall have no other gods before me.” It seems that many supporters of MAGA Christianity have overlooked this principle, but thankfully, the internet is here to remind them.
The dynamics of organized religion intrigue me. While I do not personally follow a faith, I understand the sense of belonging that comes from being part of a community that shares similar beliefs. However, when those beliefs become entwined with hatred towards others, discrimination against differing opinions, and the spread of animosity, I can no longer support that ideology. It appears that MAGA Christians have strayed from not just their core beliefs but from the fundamental teachings of Christianity, as suggested by a recent video.
The video in question, shared on platform X, depicts a baby and a young boy parading down a church aisle, both dressed as Trump, accompanied by music from the YMCA.

Commenters have been swift in highlighting the hypocrisy, with the post generating a staggering 5.2 thousand comments at the time of writing. One user expressed concern that this sacrilegious act of venerating a false idol would yield divine consequences.
Acting in idolatry. It’s a grave sin according to the Bible. Trump and his followers will soon face the repercussions of defaming God.

Others suggest that rather than awaiting divine punishment, there should be tangible, real-world repercussions. For instance, taxing entities that evade taxes by keeping out of politics could be a start. However, it’s undeniable that in the U.S., church and state have historically intertwined.
Any tax-exempt organization that engages in politics breaches its tax-exempt status and should be reported. They seem to prioritize money over integrity, so let’s make it count? Here’s the form? ??https://t.co/bkLtd8iBju

Many have noted that the extreme beliefs and attitudes showcased by MAGA Christians are reminiscent of cult behavior.
Let’s not normalize this behavior. This could be a dangerous cult—people need to wake up.

Some individuals also acknowledge that this type of conduct is frankly abnormal.
Remind us again how this isn’t a full-blown cult?

This is definitely not normal.

A user highlighted the hypocrisy present in their belief system.
The same individuals who advocate for the Ten Commandments in schools blatantly disregard them in their churches!?! pic.twitter.com/BNJAjFpXeO

Quite a few commentators observed that the child appeared reluctant to participate.
The little toddler looks like he’s both ashamed and praying for forgiveness.

Contradictions abound within Christianity and many major religions. One biblical reference can often be countered by another, leading to selective adherence by followers. What is particularly concerning about MAGA Christians is their tendency to manipulate their faith to endorse Trump’s controversial and unsettling messages. It’s evident that Trump is exploiting this dynamic—having even crafted his own version of the Bible—possibly in hopes of one day achieving a god-like status.
