Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver offers players a variety of locations filled with intricate puzzles. While not every puzzle is essential for progression, engaging with them can yield substantial rewards. By exploring the map, players can discover the number of
Artifacts available in each area, which can enhance health or energy levels.
One notable challenge involves walls adorned with engraved images, featuring sections that have been removed. This particular puzzle bears resemblance to another challenge encountered in the Silenced Cathedral, which revolves around similar wall paintings.
Unlocking the Artifact in the Silenced Cathedral
This optional puzzle can be encountered after completing two preceding puzzles that involve shattering glass covering several switches. Upon entering the puzzle area, players will find an Artifact encased in glass, ready to be claimed after solving the associated challenge.
Between the glass enclosure and the puzzle room lies a gate, necessitating a phasing through it as the player assumes their incorporeal form. Players may encounter enemies on the other side, which can be defeated and absorbed for stamina restoration. It’s important to note that block manipulation is impossible in the Spectral Realm, so players should make their way to the center of the south wall and execute a high jump to reach a ledge that serves as a transition back to the Material Plane.
Before proceeding to arrange the blocks on the wall, players should take a careful look at the engravings. Figures of trumpeters clustered together and elongated garments gripping the legs of figures will guide players in determining the correct orientation for the blocks. Additionally, gamers can switch between the original graphics and the remastered visuals of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 to appreciate both artistic interpretations.
It’s vital to align the blocks correctly, as they may not always be facing the right direction. To manipulate a block, players should first flip it to ensure the image is facing upwards, then designate their position opposite to the intended direction. If an image appears inverted, standing left or right of the block will enable players to rotate it correctly.
After signing each block into its designated space, a set of four final blocks will drop from above. Repeat the flipping process with these blocks to unlock the glass enclosure housing the artifact. Collecting a total of five artifacts is necessary to complete an emblem, thereby enhancing the player’s stamina.
