The success of Star Trek: Picard reignited interest in past characters, reintroducing beloved figures such as Seven of Nine and the iconic crew from The Next Generation (TNG). Burton shared his thoughts on the ongoing interest surrounding the idea of a Legacy series, stating, “Then AND now, it seems that both the cast and audiences are just as invested in the concept as they were when Picard originally aired.”

While Burton acknowledged that Paramount+ is currently directing its focus towards Starfleet Academy, he remains optimistic about the Legacy project. He believes that, given appropriate resources, a move to develop this series seems both logical and promising.

“I would think that given the opportunity and the resources, that they would want to do this. It makes so much sense… It makes so much sense.”
