Liam Neeson’s $222 Million Action Thriller Departs Netflix as Director Launches Second Airport Thriller

Liam Neeson undoubtedly ranks among the top action icons of today. Renowned primarily for his role as Bryan Mills in the Taken trilogy, Neeson’s career surged in popularity with this series, which centers on a father’s relentless pursuit of his kidnapped daughter. The saga kicked off in 2008 and wrapped up with Taken 3 in 2014. Interestingly, the franchise also inspired a spin-off TV series in 2017, featuring Clive Standen stepping into Neeson’s shoes.

However, the Taken films aren’t all that Neeson is known for in the action genre. He portrayed the menacing villain Ra’s Al Ghul in Christopher Nolan’s highly acclaimed The Dark Knight trilogy. In 2023, audiences saw him star in Absolution, where he takes on the role of a seasoned gangster seeking redemption and reconciliation with his estranged children, only to be drawn back into the criminal underworld. Neeson’s recent projects also include In the Land of Saints and Sinners and Retribution.

Another Neeson Film Makes Its Debut

Fans of Neeson’s action-packed film Non-Stop should brace themselves as it’s slated to leave Netflix soon. This gripping thriller follows an air marshal who receives a shocking ultimatum mid-flight: a $150 million ransom is demanded, or a passenger will perish every 20 minutes. Featuring a stellar cast alongside Neeson, including Julianne Moore and Michelle Dockery, the film was a box office success, garnering approximately $222.8 million worldwide against a production budget of about $50 million.

Netflix has announced that Non-Stop, alongside Cold Pursuit, will be removed from the platform on December 31. Meanwhile, another Neeson title, Run All Night, which was recently added to the streaming service, will remain available to subscribers.

The news of Non-Stop and Cold Pursuit leaving Netflix is disappointing for fans. This departure means only three Neeson films will remain available: Run All Night, A Walk Among the Tombstones, and Made in Italy. Fortunately, Run All Night has been performing well on Netflix, climbing the streaming charts—an encouraging sign that could lead to the addition of more Neeson films in the future, despite the loss of two beloved titles.
