Overview of The Precinct
- The limited physical edition of the GTA-inspired game The Precinct is now open for pre-orders.
- Publishers Kwalee and Microids confirmed a planned launch for the first half of 2025.
- Notably, this release timeline currently applies only to console versions, raising concerns about a potential delay for the PC edition.
Fans of open-world gaming can now pre-order The Precinct, but it’s essential to note that this option is exclusive to console players, as the PC version remains unavailable for pre-purchase.
Set to deliver a vibrant urban sandbox experience, The Precinct features a police protagonist and adopts an isometric viewpoint reminiscent of GTA: Chinatown Wars. Developed by the UK-based Fallen Tree Games, the title was first showcased in June 2023, with a current target release in 2025.
In advance of its launch, publishers Kwalee and Microids have revealed a limited physical edition of the game, which can be pre-ordered through retailers such as Amazon, GameStop, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. This special edition includes a physical copy of the game, a collectible sleeve, a steelbook case, and a digital soundtrack. In addition, it features a map poster of Averno City adorned with collectible marks. This physical release is available only for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, aligning with the trend of limited physical releases for PC in recent years.
The Precinct’s Console-Focused Release Timeline
Interestingly, alongside the announcement of pre-orders, it was noted that no digital editions of The Precinct are currently available for pre-purchase, leaving fans in the dark about the game on platforms like the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Steam. While the first half of 2025 has been re-confirmed as the release window specifically for console versions, questions linger regarding the potential absence of a PC launch, especially following recent age ratings that have fueled speculation.

Initially targeting an August release, The Precinct saw its launch date pushed to late 2024, and then further delayed to the current target of H1 2025. Despite these setbacks, anticipation remains high, as evidenced by the fact that a demo for the PC version surpassed 100,000 downloads on Steam shortly after its October 2024 release.
Gameplay promises to offer an immersive open world that can be explored on foot, in vehicles, or via helicopter. It will feature a dynamic day-night cycle and weather conditions, coupled with a gripping neo-noir narrative set within a fictional city inspired by 1980s New York.
