Love Next Door Episodes 11-12 Recap: Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo Transition from Childhood Friends to Romantic Partners

Love Next Door, featuring Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min, released episodes 11 and 12 on Netflix on September 21 and 22, respectively. In episode 11, Choi Seung-hyo (Jung Hae-in) assists Bae Seok-ryu (Jung So-min) in translating a recipe from French to Korean on her rooftop terrace.

Later, Choi Seung-hyo encountered Jeong Mo-eum in their neighborhood and explained that he had decided to distance himself from Bae Seok-ryu after noticing her emotional farewell to her ex-fiancé.

Choi Seung-hyo subsequently joined his father, Choi Gyeong-jong (Lee Seung-joon), and his mother, Seo Hye-suk (Jang Young-nam), for dinner after a significant time apart. During the meal, his parents delivered the shocking news of their impending divorce, along with the information that his mother was being reassigned to Africa.

This revelation left Choi Seung-hyo heartbroken, concerned about his parents’ separation, a sentiment he had sensed since childhood. Following this, Bae Seok-ryu came to pick up Choi Seung-hyo, who was drunk at a street food stall.

In his intoxicated state, he expressed his feelings about his parents’ situation to Bae Seok-ryu, revealing his envy of her family. He lamented the fact that he had always waited for his mother to return, but she was often unavailable due to her busy schedule abroad.

By the conclusion of episode 11, Bae Seok-ryu admitted her feelings for Choi Seung-hyo, solidifying their bond from childhood best friends to lovers.

Love Next Door Episodes 11-12 Recap: Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu’s Blossoming Romance

In episode 11 of Love Next Door, Seo Hye-suk went missing on the day she was scheduled to leave for Africa. Choi Gyeong-jong received a call from the police, informing him that her luggage had been found in the lost and found. His intuition suggested her forgetfulness might indicate Alzheimer’s disease.

Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo arrived at the police station to search for Seo Hye-suk. Eventually, they discovered that she had visited a temple she frequented with friends and had left her phone in her suitcase.

After a full day of searching, they found her in the woods surrounding the temple. This incident prompted greater honesty between Choi Gyeong-jong and Seo Hye-suk. Choi Seung-hyo expressed to his mother that he had long awaited her return and still desired her presence in his life, despite being in his thirties.

The following day, Choi Seung-hyo departed for a two-week business trip to Gangwon. Bae Seok-ryu listened to the translation recording and discovered that Choi Seung-hyo had mentioned something in French about the banana milk and its expiration. He remarked that even if the banana milk expired today, his love for her would never expire—today, tomorrow, or ever.

At the end of episode 11, Bae Seok-ryu traveled to Gangwon with the assistance of Yoon Myeong-woo to find Choi Seung-hyo. She located him in a sunflower field and confessed her feelings, which he reciprocated with a kiss.

In episode 12 of Love Next Door, Choi Seung-hyo and Bae Seok-ryu returned together after spending the night in Gangwon. Bae Seok-ryu’s mother spotted them in the neighborhood and suggested a blind date. Jeong Mo-eum, coming back from an interview, overheard them discussing the blind date, but Bae Seok-ryu brushed it off.

Jeong Mo-eum quickly realized that her two closest friends were now officially dating. When she inquired, Choi Seung-hyo confirmed the relationship. Jeong Mo-eum remarked that she had always known they would end up together, having observed their relationship throughout their childhood.

Meanwhile, Jeong Mo-eum had previously apologized to Kang Dan-oh (Yoon Ji-on) for kissing him, asking him to put it behind them as if it hadn’t happened. However, after spending time with Kang Yeon-du, she acknowledged her feelings for him and could no longer suppress her sentiments towards Kang Dan-oh.

During their camping trip, Jeong Mo-eum confronted Kang Dan-oh about her feelings, even expressing a desire to become Kang Yeon-du’s mother. Kang Dan-oh was taken aback and ultimately rejected her feelings.

On the other hand, Bae Seok-ryu felt a pang of jealousy upon seeing Choi Seung-hyo working alongside his ex-girlfriend, Jang Tae-hui (Seo Ji-hye). She confronted Choi Seung-hyo, questioning whether he enjoyed dating her, but Choi Seung-hyo responded that he wished to avoid discussing his past.

Later, during a talk with Jeong Mo-eum, Bae Seok-ryu reflected on being harsh towards Choi Seung-hyo despite her fondness for Jang Tae-hui. They hesitated to reach out to each other throughout the day. Additionally, Choi Gyeong-jong and Seo Hye-suk discovered that she did not have Alzheimer’s disease but short-term memory loss attributed to stress. Choi Gyeong-jong learned that Kwak Se-hwan (Jo Seung-yeon) was gay, someone he mistakenly thought was Seo Hye-suk’s romantic interests.

Later in episode 12, Bae Seok-ryu found Choi Seung-hyo feeding a cat on the street, which reminded him of the makeshift cat shelter he had built during high school due to Bae Seok-ryu’s encouragement. He expressed surprise that his first architectural project was for a cat, although Choi Seung-hyo corrected her, stating that she was his first true client since he undertook the project because she inspired him. Upon reaching Bae Seok-ryu’s house, he noted that she appeared to treat him more poorly than before they began dating, to which Choi Seung-hyo explained he was simply nervous around her. Episode 12 closed with an intimate moment shared by Bae Seok-ryu and Choi Seung-hyo at her home.
