The Circle season 7 episode 5 highlighted a significant change in alliances. The disruptor mode introduced in episode 4 created turmoil, prompting new allegiances. In the previous episode, Madelyn and Rachel exchanged their profiles. Employing Rachel’s profile, Madelyn resolved to reconnect with Kevin.
Madelyn initiated a private chat with Kevin, expressing her desire to clarify misunderstandings arising from their last Circle group discussion. She admitted to misjudging him and wished to extend her apologies.
“I feel like I needed a chat with you after yesterday’s Circle Chat. Tensions were high. I misjudged you, and I apologize.”
The synopsis for episode 5, aptly titled Circle Wedding Crashers, teased:
“A secret profile swap leads to a steamy private chat, and a messy game forces the players to reveal who they’d wed, smooch — or take down.”
The Circle star Madelyn invites Kevin to a private chat
Stuck with Rachel’s profile after episode 4’s disruptor mode, Madelyn understood that to remain competitive, she must patch things up with contestants who were previously at odds with Rachel. She stated:
“In order to save Rachel, we need to talk to the person that I think she has the most beef with.”
Recognizing the tension between Rachel and Kevin, Madelyn invited him for a private chat in episode 5 disguised as Rachel. Kevin was taken aback to receive a private chat request from Rachel.
Madelyn opened the conversation by admitting through Rachel’s profile that she had misjudged him and offered her apology. Kevin assumed the message was genuinely from Rachel and felt it was a positive step forward, but he sought clarification on her previous comments during the group chat. He queried:
“#NewBeginnings sounds great! I gotta ask, why’d you come for me so hard in the Circle Chat though?”
Madelyn crafted a response that was in line with how Rachel might have reacted. She explained that her actions were in defense of her girl’s alliance members, and then attempted to reconcile with him:
“But after my convo with Madelyn yesterday, she spoke really highly of you and I might have not given you a fair chance.”
Madelyn knew this conversation could be advantageous for both her and Rachel; gaining Kevin’s trust could benefit them in the game. Her strategy proved successful, with Kevin expressing openness to giving her another chance.
“That’s great! Honestly, I didn’t give you a fair chance either. So glad we got to have this chat and start this friendship!”Kevin responded.
Madelyn and Rachel’s profile swap
During The Circle season 7, contestants Madelyn and Rachel experienced the disruptor mode in episode 4, requiring them to switch profiles and impersonate one another until the next elimination. If one faced elimination, the other would be left with that profile.
Host Michelle Buteau explained:
“Now that Madelyn is controlling Rachel’s profile, she needs to be careful, because if Rachel is blocked, then it’s bye-bye for Madelyn.”
Madelyn and Rachel recognized the importance of playing strategically to avoid raising suspicion among other contestants in The Circle season 7. They held a private discussion to devise a plan regarding their profile switch and agreed to support each other while maintaining strong ties with their allies.
