Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, produced by Amy Hennig, is generating excitement with fresh concept art and intriguing story details. First revealed at the D23 Expo in September 2022, the game showcased a full trailer during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2024. Set against the backdrop of World War II, players will witness Captain America collaborating with the era’s Black Panther to thwart the sinister ambitions of Hydra.

At GDC this year, additional insights into the game emerged, including details about the voice cast. Notably, Khary Payton, a veteran from DC Comics, is voicing Azzuri, the Black Panther, while Drew Moerlein from Red Dead Redemption 2 steps into Captain America’s boots. Beyond these iconic heroes, players will also control characters such as Gabriel Jones from the Howling Commandos and the Wakandan spy Nanali, who will join forces with Black Panther to dismantle Hydra’s schemes in Paris during this tumultuous era. The recently released story trailer hints that these heroes will face initial conflicts before uniting for a common cause.

Amy Hennig elaborated on the game’s setting and plot in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showcasing concept art that illustrates Wakanda during a time when it remains largely concealed from the outside world. With a vivid jungle environment protecting this advanced African nation, Hennig indicated that the narrative will involve Wakanda’s gradual emergence into the broader World War II conflict, culminating in its eventual discovery by other characters in the Marvel universe.
