Since launching its venture into television content on Disney+ nearly four years ago, the MCU has consistently impressed viewers. The initial phase featured five dynamic series in its first year—WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, and the animated What If…?. Now, as we approach 2024, Marvel Studios has successfully delivered 12 different television offerings, some even extending into multiple seasons. In mid-2023, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger shared the company’s intention to “reduce output to about two series annually.” However, this will not apply to the ambitious slate planned for 2025.

Unveiling Marvel Studios’ 2025 Disney+ Lineup

A freshly released trailer from Marvel Studios highlights several upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe titles for Disney+. As we round out 2024, fans can anticipate the arrival of What If..? Season 3, featuring exciting new episodes with characters such as Shang-Chi and Blade. Looking ahead to 2025, Marvel will expand its animated offerings with three new series, including Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, an R-rated Marvel Zombies and an anthology exploring Black Panther called Eyes of Wakanda. Additionally, three live-action MCU titles are slated for the same year: Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart—the spin-off focused on Riri Williams—and the comedic spectacle of Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

The trailer also provides a glimpse of all seven upcoming Disney+ series, including intriguing details about Wonder Man, a project that has been shrouded in mystery. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who helmed Spider-Man 4 and Shang-Chi, and produced by Andrew Guest from Hawkeye, Wonder Man promises a comedic twist as it follows Simon Williams, portrayed by Abdul-Mateen II. Williams, an actor and stunt performer, acquires superpowers and embraces his new identity as Wonder Man.

The trailer’s debut footage introduces Simon Williams as he enters an audition room, fervently declaring, “I was born to play this character,” while sharing the scene with Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley, a character who has had his own cinematic adventures within the MCU. Last seen in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Slattery’s appearance in another MCU series centered around performers fits seamlessly. The duo appears to embark on an unexpected journey, featuring high-stakes chase scenarios as Williams and Slattery find themselves in a car pursuit. With Slattery exclaiming, “We’ve both got a lot riding on this, you’d better not mess this up,” viewers are teased with a taste of the comedic tone Wonder Man aims to achieve.
