Megyn Kelly, a prominent supporter of Donald Trump, expressed her outrage over the events that unfolded at the Trump rally held at Madison Square Garden.
During the rally, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe infamously referred to Puerto Rico as “a floating island of garbage” and resorted to other derogatory stereotypes in his routine. His remarks drew widespread condemnation from members of the Republican Party. Despite her previous support for Trump, Megyn Kelly criticized Hinchcliffe’s comments on her podcast.
Megyn described the atmosphere at the event as “too bro-tastic.” While she refrained from labeling it a “Nazi rally,” she asserted that such jokes were counterproductive to Trump’s campaign strategy. Kelly specifically called for a reduction in the “bro-talk,” suggesting that it was unnecessary to pander to male supporters. Furthermore, she pointed out her concern that the “insane media” was amplifying negative narratives around Trump due to these offensive remarks. She argued that it was the media’s portrayal that was a problem, rather than the behavior of the speakers advocating for Trump.
Acknowledging Trump’s “Female Voter Issue”
Treason wasn’t a problem but “bro-tastic” is?

Megyn’s message left many viewers puzzled, as it seemed she was caught between two viewpoints. If she believes these jokes were detrimental to Trump, then why express frustration that his supporters might embrace such rhetoric? Many online commentators perceived her criticism as insincere. As one user pointed out on Twitter, “Do you believe these brotastic individuals would actually heed a woman’s advice in campaign planning?” Another user shared skepticism, asking, “So treason isn’t an issue, but bro-tastic humor is?” Megyn had previously suggested that the January 6th incident was exaggerated in terms of its threat to democracy, claiming that media narratives only served to escalate the severity of the event.
However, Megyn did hit upon an important truth: this election cycle is losing female voters at an alarming rate. Trump’s camp has repeatedly attacked Kamala Harris by labeling her as promiscuous. To exacerbate the situation, Trump has shared several demeaning comments regarding Harris via his Truth Social account. Despite efforts to present a favorable case to female voters, the jokes made at Madison Square Garden were not only offensive to women but also to several ethnic minority groups.
