Featuring Robert Pattinson, the Mickey 17 trailer introduces viewers to the unpredictable life of Mickey Barnes, a man who volunteers for a groundbreaking program that tests the limits of the human brain’s memory retention through repeated regenerations.
Pattinson’s character is eager to abandon Earth and enrolls in the program, where he takes on the role of an expendable subject. However, turmoil arises when one of his newly created clones survives, leading to an intense confrontation between the two clones.
What is the release date for Mickey 17?
Mickey 17 is set to premiere in South Korea on January 28, 2025, followed by its theatrical release in the United States on January 31, 2025. Back in 2022, during the film’s production, Variety reported that Bong Joon-ho and the film’s team were originally targeting a 2024 release.
Unfortunately, this timeline was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which temporarily halted Hollywood operations. Significant disruptions and delays in the film’s post-production process also contributed to the postponed release date.

This gripping film is both written and directed by Bong Joon-ho, renowned for his works such as Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000), Memories of Murder (2003), and Parasite (2019). The latter film won Bong the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and secured the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards.
In addition, Parasite garnered three more Oscars in 2019 for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, alongside numerous accolades from the Golden Globe Awards, BAFTA Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
