Mojang Studios has recently announced its annual live event, a platform where the company discusses the development of Minecraft and celebrates its community and games. This event highlights the future of each franchise, particularly focusing on the main title, Minecraft. A standout feature of past events has been the revelation of major updates coming to Minecraft.
This year is set to excite fans once again, as Mojang is expected to unveil what it has planned for Minecraft’s upcoming updates.
Mojang Studios is Ready to Announce the New Minecraft Update at the Upcoming Live Event
Minecraft Live Date and Time
Traditionally, most of Mojang Studios’ live events have occurred in October or November. However, this year’s event will take place notably earlier. According to a teaser released on the game’s official YouTube channel, the live event is scheduled for September 28, 2024, at 1 PM PDT / 9 PM BST / September 29, 1:30 AM IST.
This means that in just 10 days, players can expect to hear about new updates and sneak peeks of the exciting features planned for Minecraft’s future.
The fact that this 15-year-old sandbox game is continuing to receive new features remains thrilling for millions, especially given its active community. In 2023, players celebrated when the developer revealed the 1.21 update and its new additions to the game.
This year’s update announcement is anticipated to differ significantly due to Mojang Studios’ recent changes to their update cycle.
Changes in Minecraft’s Update Cycles
On their official website, Mojang Studios outlined plans to revamp the current Minecraft update cycle. Previously, new updates were announced during the annual live event in the latter half of the year, followed by a release the following June.
Now, Mojang plans to release feature-rich updates more frequently and of varying sizes. Players should expect several updates throughout the year instead of just one or two. The developer refers to these regular content releases as “game drops.”
This new approach means that major improvements will be rolled out as smaller, manageable updates consistently throughout the year.
Mojang Studios previously experimented with this strategy during the 1.20.5 update, which introduced the armadillo mob and wolf armor in an incremental update.
