This Spotlight Hour takes place on December 10th, 2024, from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. local time, providing players the opportunity to catch Murkrow for the evening. During this hour, players will enjoy a bonus of double Catch XP, enhancing the experience by increasing the XP gained from catching any Pokémon during this period.

Murkrow, listed as #0198 in the Pokédex, hails from the Johto Region (Generation 2). This dual-type Pokémon is both a Dark and Flying type, boasting a combat power (CP) of 1,766. Notably, there is a shiny variant available, which sports a distinctive purple hue compared to the standard dark blue.

To evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow, players will need 100 candies and a Sinnoh Stone. Every successful catch of Murkrow yields three candies and 100 Stardust, making this event a prime opportunity to bolster your inventory.

Before the festivities begin, players are encouraged to prepare essential items to enhance their gameplay. Stocking up on Poké Balls and berries is advisable, as well as clearing or expanding Pokémon storage to accommodate the anticipated catches. Additionally, having incense on hand can further increase the likelihood of encountering both regular and shiny Murkrow throughout the hour.

Understanding Murkrow’s Strengths and Weaknesses

As a Dark and Flying type, Murkrow has specific vulnerabilities:

  • Electric Type (160% damage)
  • Fairy Type (160% damage)
  • Ice Type (160% damage)
  • Rock Type (160% damage)

Conversely, Murkrow enjoys reduced damage from the following types:

  • Dark Type (63% damage)
  • Ghost Type (63% damage)
  • Grass Type (63% damage)
  • Ground Type (39% damage)
  • Psychic Type (39% damage)

The most effective moves for Murkrow are Feint Attack (Normal Attack) and Drill Peck (Flying Charge Attack), which provide a solid 9.05 DPS (Damage Per Second) and a total output of 64.50 TDO (Total Damage Output). Weather conditions like Fog and Windy can further amplify the effectiveness of these attacks.

It’s worth mentioning that Murkrow should not be utilized in Pokémon raids or Dynamax battles, as its current capabilities are not suited for such encounters.
