AIRFOOTWORKS’ Journey on America’s Got Talent Season 19
AIRFOOTWORKS hails from Japan and is mentored by Kenichi Ebina, the winner of America’s Got Talent Season 8. Kenichi also founded the performance group UniCircle Flow, which reached the semi-finals in season 16.
Fans were already familiar with Kenichi’s unique mentoring style. When AIRFOOTWORKS debuted in season 19, expectations were sky-high. The group stayed true to their artistic vision, performing an audition set to Justin Bieber’s “Where Are You Now,”which earned them a standing ovation from three of the four judges, minus Simon Cowell.
In the quarter-finals, AIRFOOTWORKS captivated audiences with a performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Celestial,”which made them appear as if they were dancing among the stars. They received standing ovations from all four judges and made history by prompting a judge to steal a fellow panelist’s Golden Buzzer.
For context, it was Judge Howie Mandel’s turn to use the Golden Buzzer, but Simon Cowell was so mesmerized by AIRFOOTWORKS that he attempted to press it first. However, Howie was quick on the draw and awarded them the precious buzzer.
