The initial wave of icons debuted in mid-November 2024, following the successful rollout of Indigo Disk icons that spanned six sets last year. Fans have a limited window to claim these final icons, which will be accessible from December 31, 2024, until January 7, 2025.
A Closer Look at the New Pokémon Icons
Nintendo Switch Online is a comprehensive subscription service that enhances the gaming experience for Switch users by providing online multiplayer capabilities, cloud saves, and voice chat features. In October 2021, the service expanded to include the Nintendo Switch + Expansion Pack tier, granting subscribers access to a library of classic games from consoles such as Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance. Recently, subscribers were treated to newly added NES and Game Boy titles, including retro favorites like Tetris and Tetris DX. Additionally, there are various downloadable content options available for popular games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon 2.
According to a Twitter post by Serebii.net, the seventh and final set of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet icons is now accessible for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This new collection includes eight distinctive icons: Penny, the Mythical Pokémon Pecharunt, Pikachu, Eevee, Shiny Rayquaza, a member of Team Star, and Charcadet. Subscribers can also choose from five innovative backgrounds and five unique frames, showcasing diverse colors and patterns, including a game-exclusive red and purple scheme. Given Sylveon’s effectiveness in Tera Raid battles, it’s expected that this evolution of Eevee will emerge as a favored choice among players.

Claiming these new Pokémon icons is a simple process, with each icon priced at 10 Platinum Points, while the backgrounds and frames can be acquired for just 5 Platinum Points each. The Pokémon community on Twitter has shown immense enthusiasm for the latest additions, although there are calls for more Eeveelution icons to be released in future updates. Subscribers narrowly favor the Sylveon icon, leading many to hope for the inclusion of Glaceon and new Perrin designs soon.
Besides Pokémon-themed icons, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can also access Mario-inspired icons and a robust selection for The Legend of Zelda enthusiasts. The subscription’s Missions and Rewards system promotes engagement by encouraging players to complete missions for Platinum Points. This system frequently rotates the rewards catalog, ensuring there is always something new and exciting for subscribers to claim.
