- Enthusiastic fans are speculating about Professor Victoria’s significance within the Sonic franchise.
The Sonic the Hedgehog fandom recently celebrated the long-awaited identification of a character who first graced the Sega’s TailsTube web series almost three years ago: Professor Victoria. This character has generated considerable excitement among devoted fans, particularly during the promotional period leading up to the release of 2022’s Sonic Frontiers.
To provide context, SEGA and Sonic Team initiated a web series titled TailsTube, where Miles “Tails”Prower hosts engaging “livestreams”that delve into various aspects of the franchise’s lore. The inaugural episode set the stage for Sonic’s universe, reintroducing human characters from Sonic Unleashed. Among these characters, a new face—a pink-haired woman—captured fans’ attention. Although speculation suggested her role in Sonic Frontiers due to the timing and hints from Sonic writer Ian Flynn, she did not make an appearance in the game. However, the latest TailsTube episode has finally revealed her name.
During this recent TailsTube episode, Tails connects with his friends to discuss their New Year’s resolutions. Observant fans noted a new book on Tails’ desk, prominently featuring the pink-haired woman from the first episode. This book, titled The Mystery of History, is credited to Professor Victoria, alluding to her mysterious persona while hinting at her potential relevance within the Sonic lore.

The book is titled “The Mystery of History”FURTHER PUSHING THAT SHE IS SOME SORT OF HISTORIAN!!!! As pointed out above, the artwork of Victoria on the cover is the same we saw in Sonic 3. Or, at least, the same pose. The version in Sonic 3 has more detail! pic.twitter.com/Lddd4zWMxg — pleasepitypepper (@plspitypepper) December 31, 2024
In the world of Shadow Generations, a copy of Professor Gerald’s diary is uncovered, chronicling his life and the creation of Shadow the Hedgehog. Within this journal exists a letter addressed to G.U.N. Commander Abraham Tower, expressing a desire to learn more about Gerald and Maria Robotnik—signed by “T.”Interestingly, in the Japanese version, it is signed by “Torii.”This connection gained further intrigue with the appearance of Professor Victoria as an Easter Egg in the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film, where she was referred to as Professor Torii. Although still speculative, this link emphasizes her potential role within Sonic’s expansive universe.
Despite three years of speculation, much about Professor Victoria remains unknown. With the recent launch of Shadow Generations, theories have emerged suggesting that she might be the sister of Maria Robotnik. Given her role as a historian, fans connect her to the G.U.N. military, which has also shown an interest in the lives of Maria and Gerald. Many fans eagerly anticipate her possible participation in the upcoming Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds or the next installment in the Sonic franchise, given the ongoing hints and teasers from Sega.
