While sexy films may captivate viewers, the actual process of filming them can be quite the opposite. For Nicole Kidman, her threshold was tested during the making of *Babygirl*, leading her to pause production for a rather amusing reason.
In *Babygirl*, Kidman shares the screen with Harris Dickinson and Antonio Banderas, portraying a character embroiled in an affair. This complex situation means she must enact intimate scenes with both male co-stars. At a press event — as reported by The Sun — Kidman and Dickinson discussed the film’s provocative themes.
Kidman found herself halting the filming of steamy scenes, and surprisingly, it wasn’t for the expected reasons. “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore,’” Kidman revealed to The Sun. Honestly, that’s quite hilarious! She chuckled about the overwhelming number of “orgasms”she had to fake, which might just be the funniest on-set anecdote. “I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life!” she added.
This phenomenon seems to be common during shoots. Dickinson mentioned that if things got a bit too intense, he would ask others to step away momentarily. Kidman further elaborated on the emotional toll of those intimate scenes, noting how they made her feel burnt out over time. “It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like burnout,” she confessed.
I can empathize with her perspective. Though sex scenes appear glamorous on screen, the reality is often filled with technicalities that can be tiring. When viewed out of context, Kidman’s comment about saying “no more orgasms” becomes quite humorous.
Kidman Experienced Freedom on a Supportive Set
During the interview, Kidman elaborated on how pivotal director Halina Reijn was in making the film an enjoyable experience. “I don’t think I could have done it, working with a man,” she reflected. “The only way I could take on this role was with her; we had many discussions that were deeply personal and vulnerable yet felt completely safe.”
It’s simple to categorize the erotic thriller solely based on its explicit scenes. Yet, Kidman’s insights reveal that *Babygirl* is much more than that: “I read the script and thought it was so funny,” she stated. “But I was also captivated by it, almost hypnotized.”
She emphasized that her sense of security stemmed from Reijn’s direction: “Being in the hands of Halina, I knew she wouldn’t exploit me. I didn’t feel exploited.”
*Babygirl* is set for release this Christmas, and now you’ll appreciate that Kidman once humorously declared enough was enough regarding her fake orgasms.
