A Marvel Connection: No Good Deed’s Impressive MCU Cast
Who Has the Most MCU Experience?
No Good Deed delivers a blend of comedy and drama that not only appeals to fans of Kudrow and Romano but also engages MCU enthusiasts. The series features three prominent MCU actors: Linda Cardellini, Teyonah Parris, and O-T Fagbenle. Among them, Cardellini stands out with her extensive MCU credentials, having portrayed Laura Barton in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Endgame, and the series Hawkeye. Furthermore, she lent her voice to Lylla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Other cast members, such as Linda Cardellini (also seen in Creature Commandos), Luke Wilson (notable for his roles in Merry Little Batman and Stargirl), and Rory Scovel (from Harley Quinn), have collaborated with DC Comics projects, creating a broad appeal across superhero genres.
Teyonah Parris made waves in the MCU with her debut as Monica Rambeau in the critically acclaimed WandaVision in 2021. She later reprised her role in the cinematic release The Marvels and will continue her portrayal in What If…? season 3. Meanwhile, O-T Fagbenle portrayed Rick Mason in Black Widow and made a return in the series Secret Invasion. Even though Denis Leary, who appears in No Good Deed, has not featured in the MCU directly, he has notable experience with Marvel, having played George Stacy in the first two The Amazing Spider-Man films.
No Good Deed’s Humorous Take on Pressures in Acting
Luke Wilson’s Character and His Hilarious Marvel Reference
With such a prominent lineup of MCU stars, it’s fitting that No Good Deed humorously addresses the entertainment industry’s obsession with superhero films. Within the narrative, the character JD struggles to navigate a stagnant acting career. At one point, he comforts his wife by claiming he has an audition for a fictional Marvel movie titled Captain World. He amusingly fabricates a superhero named Universe Man, claiming this is the role for which he is auditioning.
The comedic punch of this scene is amplified by the fact that Linda Cardellini, a veteran of superhero films, is on the receiving end of JD’s far-fetched claims. By the time No Good Deed reaches its climax, secrets unravel, revealing Margo (also known as Luann) as the antagonist responsible for Jacob’s death, preying on JD due to his status as a celebrity. Though JD’s dream of starring in a Marvel film remains unfulfilled, he is depicted producing a show called Teton Territory, reminiscent of the hit series Yellowstone.
